even my least favourite songs on the track (closure, dorothea and evermore) are amazing, i think i’ll warm up to them.

my favourite song is probably tolerate it. it’s been on repeat since and i just have no words, it’s also just a very relatable song and she captures the feelings of what that type of relationship is like effortlessly. Taylor’s vocals on evermore and folklore are absolutely stunning and i cant get over it. i love her other albums and songs but folklore and evermore are such SUCH beautiful albums it’s something else.. i’m so glad and grateful evermore is out and if u haven’t listened to it yet.. wtf are u doing? aha.

This album is absolutely amazing. The way she can sing stories with cottagecore vibes and how her voice makes you feel different kinds of emotions is incredible. Songwriting and storytelling really are her things and she knows it, such as the melodies that are so unique, i truly don't have enough words to describe this so i'm just gonna end it here. 100/100.

She's a shape-shifter who's successfully managed to absolutely dominate country and pop, but even her most successful songs from her first seven albums pale in comparison to the newest two. With each era we wondered if she hit her peak, and each time she proved our doubts wrong. But with the albums she put out this year, it feels like we hadn't even caught a GLIMPSE of her true potential before. Straying from her usual diaristic approach has forced everyone to stop using her songs as objects of speculation for her personal life, and shift the lens to her songs so we can finally see them for what they always were at their heart - stunning, flawless works of storytelling art. Folklore and Evermore are remarkable in every possible way and I hope she stays on this road for a little longer, but if there's anything I've learned about Taylor, we'll receive an extraordinary body of work either way. The follow-up to Folklore is not a new world but a shift, looking at other characters, other stories and still remaining in the world of wilderness that Swift has created. The follow-up to Folklore is not a new world but a shift, looking at other characters, other stories and still remaining in the world of wilderness that Swift has created. We open with Willow, the way she drops her vocal when singing world like 'hollow' makes it catchy, slightly edgy but mostly peaceful. This whole albums melodies are simple and refined.

Swift is a story teller, and there is no better track that embodies that than No Body No Crime, it goes back to her country roots and showcases (better than she ever has before) how a story can be full, melodic, and shocking all within only a few minutes. Your first listen you cannot help but be captivated by the story unfolding - and that's what a good book does, draws you in and makes you care about the characters... usually this takes 100 pages or so and Swift managed it in 3 minutes and 35 seconds.

Other stand out songs are the heart shattering Tolerate It which depicts an unbalanced relationship whereby one party is so much more invested than the other, that she will make herself everything she thinks he wants and yet still - her love is merely tolerated. The hurt is is in her voice as sings.

The final spotlight song is Champagne Problems, This song switches roles, it uses the idea of the characters in Tolerate it but instead it is the female protagonist in the story who was loved dearly but she didn't love him, and that eventually this man will forget her and the problems she caused because he will find someone who will love him as he was meant to be loved.

The album is rich with many incredible songs which I enjoyed however I can't help but think that if Swift had instead made one album with a mix of the standout tracks from each project that it would have been an even stronger piece of work. In these times though we take whatever we can for escapism and she certainly gave us that.

"Folklore" I think many assumed would be a one-off in Taylor's sound. From her country roots, to the pop albums of 1989 and Reputation, it seemed like this alternative record would not fit in with any of her past, and it likely would not be in her future. Quarantine was a defining moment in everyone's lives, and in Swift's it would be the moment when she moved into a different era"Folklore" I think many assumed would be a one-off in Taylor's sound. From her country roots, to the pop albums of 1989 and Reputation, it seemed like this alternative record would not fit in with any of her past, and it likely would not be in her future. Quarantine was a defining moment in everyone's lives, and in Swift's it would be the moment when she moved into a different era temporarily.

She proved that wrong by dropping evermore, an album with similar sounds, melodies, and fictional stories.

Highlight tracks are "No Body No Crime," possibly Taylor's best song ever written, "Ivy," and "Champagne Problems" which has an epic bridge. The single "Willow" doesn't live up to the sister album's "Cardigan," but it does symbolize a closure of a story that Swift began in July of this year. "Cardigan" describes the pain of being mistreated by a lover, while "Willow" celebrates a new love.

My only gripe with this album is Taylor's long tracklist. After a while, the songs begin to just sound alike, and you get tired while continuing to listen to similar melodies most of the time, only for the song "closure" to arrive with an almost Charli XCX-like experimental beat. The point is, the album after a while sounds all too similar. That's exactly why the standout tracks I listed are just that, because they are completely different sounds.

Yet, Taylor's stunning songwriting makes up for these faults, and makes Evermore in my book have a 7.

Sinceramente? Expand

Evermore, the second album Taylor released in 2020 is just as good as the first (or maybe even better if that is possible lol) It is more of an alternative rock album but it still has the minimalist, acoustic and folk elements of Folklore. Its an excellent album with so many beautiful stories and highlights. The openor, Willow is a sweet love song which kind of reminded me of Invisible Strings from her previous album. Champagne Problems and tolerate it are these really sad songs about being misunderstood and unappreciated, i love them! Gold Rush is also a lovely song about being jealous of your good looking partner who you think everyone wants, a fairly relatable song. No body , no crime is my favorite song from this album which revolves around a murder mystery , its just so moody and irresistible. This song and Cowboy like me remind me of her older country songs. Happiness is a bittersweet song about moving on after a breakup and its also another highlight for me. Ivy is a song about a forbidden love and kinds of reminds me of illicit affairs from her previous album though it sounds very different. Coney Island is very nostalgic and Matt Berningers vocals here are just so good!!!! Long story short is one of the more fun songs where she is in a new relationship and she recounts her former lover and the bad situation she was it. its a story about hope, picking yourself up and starting over. Its brilliant. Marjorie is also another highlight with many quotable one-liners, i just cant explain how gorgeous this song is. Its about someone who passed away and the regret of not having appreciated them more and also the memories they leave. The production on Closure is very unique and catchy and the song addresses an ex who tries to reach out after a break up- its good trust me! The title track is brilliant. Just like their duet on Folklore it also has a call and response part in the middle and Bon Ivers vocals are amazing!. Its a beautiful ballad. I also really loved the message from Its Time to go, a song about knowing when to let go and taking no **** I love the sentiment of the song, the idea that giving up is not always a sign of weakness. Its amazing. All in all, the album is excellent, her song writing gets better and better. I cant wait for whats next. Expand

What an amazing body of work this turned out to be. It's astonishing that Taylor put out two masterpieces within a year, just two superb albums.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Once again, TS manages to showcase both the depth AND breadth of her unparalleled aptitude for songwriting. If it had taken her two years to create this album, I would have understood why; the album is just that good. The fact that she released two universally acclaimed albums in the course of a few months still blows me away.
It is my belief that both Folklore and Evermore should AT LEAST have a 90% critic rating. I challenge any other artist to attempt to create what TS managed to do...........in under a year........during a PANDEMIC. As usual, I believe that critics also judge her character in addition to the music she puts out, and they judge it more harshly than they do other artists (why Ariana Grande's Thank U, Next received an 87% is beyond me).
But the bottom line is that this is a very impressive body of work. Just like Folklore, the production is thoughtful, cohesive, and not over - produced, just as the lyricism is eloquent and the storytelling vivid, immersive, and, at times, gut - wrenching. The marriage of these qualities really exemplifies itself in songs such as 'Champagne Problems,' 'Happiness,' 'Cowboy Like Me,' 'Willow,' 'Coney Island,' 'No Body, No Crime,' and 'Tolerate It.' These are easily some of the best songs on the album.
There were a few songs I immediately didn't care for - 'Long Story Short, 'Gold Rush,' and 'Closure,' to name a few - but even those grew on me after listening to them a few more times.
It doesn't matter if you're completely unfamiliar with Swift's work, or if you've never liked it in the past. There's a song on this album (and Folklore) for everyone. And I believe that most listeners will fall in love with it. .

If 'Folklore' was a lyrical genius, then the musical masterpiece is 'Evermore' for me
Nothing better than a Taylor Swift song describes the glory and agony of being human. I didn't expect any of the songs to sound like they do, honestly, I didn't know what to expect. She never let me down. Such intriguing and complex melodies make you have a phantom pang of missing someone before you ever

Okay, I have to dash and listen to 'Evermore' again and pretend that the songs are written about me and cry out.

Holy crap. This is Taylor’s best album. The folklore sister is full of different genres and types of music, something we didnt see as much in folklore. The songwriting is PHENOMENAL. When you listen to evermore after folklore, you can tell that as great as folklore is, evermore sounds much more mature and refined. Also, extra points for gold rush, because that track is just

The best follow-up to folklore i could imagine. its darker, more heart-wrencing songs are some of the best in her entire discography. songs like gold rush, dorothea and long story short are warm hugs and blissful rides that tie the bow around this perfect Christmas present.

Even though we get a catchy moment of goofy, snarling country midway through, the album is a result of the emotional clarity that a year in quarantine provided. Swift has written about curdling relationships splendidly in the past, but there's a new dimension to her writing that wasn’t there before. Onward.
