I did not expect this album at all! She just released folklore in July. But I am actually happy she did. This actually is beautiful lyrically and sonically. Tracks like no body, no crime and 'tis the dam season stand out as songs that show Taylor's versatility and songwriting skills. Amazing album.!

Her best thus far, undoubtedly a no-skip album. Feels like folklore's more mature (but younger) sister. Amazing storytelling in her lyrics as well as references to folklore and past music, manages swiftly to create eventful narratives while making the songs enjoyable and catchy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While Folklore witnessed Taylor Swift switching gears, diving into uncharted waters and emerging victorious; Evermore is Taylor Swift comfortably experimenting, with more vocalists, instruments and the alternative-rock genre; while being tied to the former album through recurrent plot lines.

Taylor calls Evermore her preceding album's ''sister record'' and the bloodline is clearly established with story lines travelling through Folklore and into Evermore. For instance, 'Willow' picks up right where 'Cardigan' left; and shows the protagonist finally getting a happily-ever-after with the love of her life after following a thread of gold. (an "invisible string" reference)

"Champagne Problems" resonates of a relationship ending with 2 people on completely different pages, while 'Ivy' screams infidelity and loving someone ignoring all the warnings. This album too reeks of heartbreak and a feeling of loss, embodied by 'Folklore' as well.

There are new themes of course-"No Body, No Crime" based on vengeance and murder being one fine example. Taylor also pays homage to her grandmother 'Marjorie' akin the track 'Epiphany' on Folklore which was a tribute to her grandfather.

While experimenting with the alternative genre of music, Taylor doesn't stray too far away from her roots- both the country music and pop genres are revisited through songs like 'Dorothea' and 'Gold Rush'. The portraits are carefully painted through songs and linked together in this album as well.

Evermore is beautiful, serene and wonderfully crafted; and should not be overshadowed by its elder sister, because, both of them, though born from the same mind; are completely different in many ways too- like monochrome or screaming colours; or summer and winter.

Taylor Swift re-establishes the fact that she indeed is an amazing lyricist and one of the best music artists of the century. ❤️✨

evermore is Taylor Swift’s second surprise album this year, and one might say it is an early Christmas present. evermore serves as a sister album to folklore, released five months prior to this album. Having loved folklore so much, I was waiting all of December 13 to listen to the new album, and I downloaded it precisely at 9:00 PM, when it became available on Spotify. The next day, I used my break time chunks to listen to the full album, and I was extremely pleased with what I heard. If one were to call evermore “folklore 2,” that is extremely accurate. This means that the music is very different from Taylor Swift’s older stuff, but just as good as in folklore in most of evermore’s songs. Her lyrics in this album are also among her best. I wish that I could include all of my thoughts on each of evermore's songs, but that would go well above the character limit. Overall, I had a wonderful time listening to evermore, as it was a splendid continuation of its sister album, folklore. It was different enough than its predecessor to make it fun to listen to, but similar enough that it retained its spirit. Some standout songs are in this album, such as “crime” and “story.” evermore was a fantastic sequel to folklore and I really hope that Taylor Swift continues on in this new direction. Not only is the music that she creates extremely fun to listen to, but her lyrics are taken to a higher level not yet seen in her songs. As a result, both of her recent albums have been wonderful and have scored highly. In fact, for evermore, I have saved more songs off of this album percentage-wise than a great majority of others I have reviewed. I love the new sound that Taylor Swift has made for herself and this makes me extremely eager to listen to more content that she releases. I recommend evermore to all Taylor Swift fans, as well as everyone who enjoyed folklore. Highlights: willow; champagne problems; gold rush; ‘tis the d**n season; no body, no crime; dorothea; coney island; cowboy like me; long story short, marjorie, and evermore.

The follow-up to Folklore is not a new world but a shift, looking at other characters, other stories and still remaining in the world of wilderness that Swift has created. We open with Willow, the way she drops her vocal when singing world like 'hollow' makes it catchy, slightly edgy but mostly peaceful. This whole albums melodies are simple and refined.

Swift is a story teller, and there is no better track that embodies that than No Body No Crime, it goes back to her country roots and showcases (better than she ever has before) how a story can be full, melodic, and shocking all within only a few minutes. Your first listen you cannot help but be captivated by the story unfolding - and that's what a good book does, draws you in and makes you care about the characters... usually this takes 100 pages or so and Swift managed it in 3 minutes and 35 seconds.

Other stand out songs are the heart shattering Tolerate It which depicts an unbalanced relationship whereby one party is so much more invested than the other, that she will make herself everything she thinks he wants and yet still - her love is merely tolerated. The hurt is is in her voice as sings.

The final spotlight song is Champagne Problems, This song switches roles, it uses the idea of the characters in Tolerate it but instead it is the female protagonist in the story who was loved dearly but she didn't love him, and that eventually this man will forget her and the problems she caused because he will find someone who will love him as he was meant to be loved.

The album is rich with many incredible songs which I enjoyed however I can't help but think that if Swift had instead made one album with a mix of the standout tracks from each project that it would have been an even stronger piece of work. In these times though we take whatever we can for escapism and she certainly gave us that.

This is too good to be true. I believe willow is her best opening track and her best lead single. "willow" is such a wholesome song and perfect to think about when you are in a long-distance relationship. "champagne problems" is the best song on the album in my opinion. Delicate upbeat strings and electronic sparkles with mind-boggling lyricism make up for repetitive listening. TheThis is too good to be true. Another absolute stunner from Swift this year. It's like folklore, but wilder and more experimental. Some say she's trying things out of her comfort zone, but to me it sounds like she's finally found her sound. She's a shape-shifter who's successfully managed to absolutely dominate country and pop, but even her most successful songs from her first seven albums pale in comparison to the newest two. With each era we wondered if she hit her peak, and each time she proved our doubts wrong. But with the albums she put out this year, it feels like we hadn't even caught a GLIMPSE of her true potential before. Straying from her usual diaristic approach has forced everyone to stop using her songs as objects of speculation for her personal life, and shift the lens to her songs so we can finally see them for what they always were at their heart - stunning, flawless works of storytelling art. Folklore and Evermore are remarkable in every possible way and I hope she stays on this road for a little longer, but if there's anything I've learned about Taylor, we'll receive an extraordinary body of work either way. Taylor Swift once again proves that she is the queen of songwriting. evermore’s predecessor folklore was certainly hard to match - but Swift’s new record gives the GRAMMY®-nominated album a good run for its money. Evermore is the album of 2020.

folklore's sister is that kind of sibling that goes a little bit harder than you. Taylor Swift extends her experimental game with the alternative genre and makes it her own flawlessly. The few new elements are perfectly put in place. However, it is weaker than folklore. Folklore is just more down to earth than her sister.

Not all the songs here are memorable, but we all can agree that Taylor is an excellent songwriter and the narratives of both Folklore and Evermore are mind blowing!

This is the proof of her unbelievably talented song writing skills. To compare this one folklore. I dont know what to say. Folklore is still a little POP. But this album is totally alternative

First listen, i loved Willow and No body no crime and dorothea. then i noticed how 'tis the damn season. ıts guitar solo is fantastic and the lyrics are always on top! taylor said herself that its sisters with folklore, so the critics should count that as a choice and a part 2 of folklore. the story is over now with this album.

It’s the perfect continuation for folklore. I love it so much, the lyricism is beyond beautiful. The beautiful vocabulary that taylor had chosen for the lyrics encourages me to expand my knowledge of english.

Experimental in all the right places, evermore is a work of art. Not 100% of all things work - such is the destiny of long albums, but Taylor Swift keeps it cohesive with the rest of her carrier's inspirations and 2020's new direction. Majestic

Even though we get a catchy moment of goofy, snarling country midway through, the album is a result of the emotional clarity that a year in quarantine provided. Swift has written about curdling relationships splendidly in the past, but there's a new dimension to her writing that wasn’t there before. Onward.
