It gets bogged down in the doldrums somewhere between the personal and universal, and ends without truly having reached either shore.
  2. Although it can be overblown, Sean’s passion is unreserved here, the record peppered with Instagram-worthy captions that urge listeners to take inspiration from their surroundings while keeping friends and family close.

There are moments on Detroit 2 that feel special, but Big Sean himself rarely has anything to do with them.

I've been waiting for him to make an album like this since he debuted. Vibes are lighthearted and positive, but Sean's verses are some of the best he's had his whole career. Hit-Boy and Key Wane also have their best production on this album. It's just an overall great album and one of the best rap albums of the year. Full Review »
