Versions Of Us is an intense listen, dealing with weighty topics, yet thanks to the hooks running through most of these songs, it’s also their most accessible album to date. It’s taken a while, but Lanterns On The Lake may just be ready for the big time at long last.

Versions of Us represents a powerful journey of resilience and self-discovery. It engages, uplifts, and leaves a lasting impact, proving that even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, if you keep that “spark” alive within you, you can find the strength to prevail.

Bands can stretch themselves and grow without going off on tangents or completely overhauling their signature sound. Some that have mastered this are now considered institutions, and Versions of Us puts Lanterns on the Lake in a position to join those ranks.

Versions Of Us is full of such emotional blue plaque moments, small humans marking their time on a grandly heartfelt scale. [Jun 2023, p.85]

Taken together, the album is an engaging and rousing affair with more than enough down-to-earth awareness and poignancy to keep it grounded.

The drama can recall Florence + The Machine more than their dream-pop origins, but the mood - lacerating self-doubt becoming decay-defying euphoria - is Lanterns On The Lake's own. [Aug 2023, p.33]
