This is the logical culmination of all of Ty's previous releases. Listen to the 10 minute opus "Warm Hands (Freedom Returned)" and tell me that this isn't some of the best material Ty has ever released. Nice having his road band backing him on this album, it made a huge difference on "Slaughter House". Lots of face melting guitar work. Steve Albini is a welcome presence behind the board (the drums sound great.)

As one of the few true post-grunge musicians who gets attention today, Segall delivers a great refreshing and invigorating down-to earth album with his powerful guitar and carefree passion. My Score: 153/180 (Great) = 8.5/10

A ten song rock record that draws on Segall’s strength as a catchy songwriter and riff manipulator.

Far from nailing down who he is or what he’s attempting in this second self-titled album, Ty Segall seems to be trying all different things. Good for him.

It's a welcome, and much needed, breakthrough. [Apr 2017, p.118]
