As a new release, it’s got more than enough exploratory factors to keep the band from sounding stale, but it also stays true to the sounds that have turned us all into maggots in the first place.

With The End, So Far, Slipknot haven’t reinvented themselves, but returned to their roots with an older, wiser and more concise outlook, resulting in a record that chews its listeners up almost instantly, and spits them out an hour later feeling beaten, battered and ultimately, cleansed.

On The End, So Far, the nihilistic furnace still glows hot, but amongst the fuming metal riffs, Slipknot also fume in a more creative way.

Overall, ‘The End, So Far’ is a remarkable punch of sharp, sobering heavy metal. Slipknot yet again thrive in their signature darkness – however, there it no doubt that this album would be elevated by more cohesion.

It's the sound of a band returning to the apex of their creative potency. [Oct 2022, p.71]

It’s perhaps not as instantaneous as the debut, as vile as Iowa or as catchy as Vol. 3, but it offers depth, discomfort and danger to those willing to dive into the recesses of The Nine’s collective consciousness.

‘The End, So Far’ may rattle many of the metal faithful, but for the prowess and lasting impression of this record alone, this is a true Slipknot record. It’s unlikely that many fans who’ve been along for the whole ride would jump ship now.

The End, So Far may not be a home run, but it proves that the band are still in it to win it, even if they're playing the long game.

The songs on this album aren't going to be overshadowing the classics that the band built their name on, but they'll sit nicely alongside them, and The End, So Far is a worthy addition to Slipknot's raucous arsenal.

Hive Mind, could be a decent song, except the chorus is quite annoying, Why do we need singy chorus in every song?

warranty could be a banger, except the chorus is again bad.

h377 could be a mosh pit song. But, it takes 2 mins to hit the groove and allow full metal banging., It starts out like it's gonna be good, and then the lame chant starts. Fast forward 2 minutes, then it kicks in after the lame "one of us " chants ends. The rest is pretty badass, classic slipknot mosh pit song. With a cool solo. But, then.... that's it. The end... so far , ends very bad

Hive mind, H377, and warranty are decent, but they aren't anything great.

Hopefully the next one on the new label, or their own independent is better. Because this was classic " here is something new, it's not very good. But, we did it... to get out of contract "

Each song is unique in its way and most of them present a very beautiful composition within, mainly in the riffs and bridges. The bridge of Yen is probably the best one of the band, and Medicine for the Dead is a composition masterpiece. Overall this album sits alongside Iowa as the two best albums of Slipknot, in my opinion. Full Review »
