Sep 8, 2023Very solid album, had a lot of Pop Punk sounds, which isn’t bad but I’d thought we’d have more “Driver’s License” ballads on this album.
Overall good album, and a perfect follow up to her debut SOUR -

Sep 10, 2023I think it’s a fantastic album overall, it captures EXACTLY what that genre is supposed to be. Why not a 10/10? I don’t know actually, i feel some songs could have been better in some little ways, but you know.. a 9/10 is also a GREAT score, it is almost perfect. I have like 7 favourite songs. So it’s pretty damn good. And i pretty much like all songs. So yeah. Good album!

Sep 11, 2023We can see Olivia’s incredible talent through her new album “GUTS”. She really knows how to describe teenagers’ thoughts. “Bad idea, right?” would be the best track in this album, with great drum beats, which really makes me think of New Wave music in the 1990’s.
-
Sep 8, 2023A gorgeous return from Olivia that not only sees her style evolve but her heart more open. Holding nothing back whether its songwriting or operatics,GUTS is a revelation that what doesn’t kill you might make you stronger. Higlights: all American **** him back, ballad of a home schooled girl, vampire, bad idea, right?
-
Sep 8, 2023such a good album full of punk and rock music plus ballad !lacy is so different from the leftovers!bad idea right and homeschooled girl are so funny!

-
Sep 10, 2023I love this album more then Sour. So much less ballad heavy and is more fun. And I love the Pop/Punk or Pop/Rock throughout many of the songs.
-
Sep 10, 2023Generally a good sophomore album from Olivia, she continues to show her growth in her sound and dabbling into new genres. However, some of the rock influences sound repetitive throughout the album, which could have been done better. My favourites are making the bed, the grudge, and teenage dream.
-
Sep 8, 2023First listen - I was not sure, but now that I've been through the album 5 times, I love it. I wanna dance and sing. She knows how to express how it feels to be a girl in her twenties. Amazing lyrics.
-
Sep 8, 2023I loved it sm, The Grudge and Get him back ate so hard even t'ho there are few songs i can't get behind overall it's really good
-
Sep 8, 2023Overall super good. Favorites include making the bed teenage dream and logical
-

Sep 10, 2023The metacritic reviews are overrated LOL. This is just a favourable album tho. But I should say the album is mainly influenced of Avril Lavigne, Paramore and Katy Perry (One of the Boys era). And I could agree that most songs in the album are SOUR's leftover. It's just her voice and lyrics that stand out.
-
Sep 8, 2023First listen: I think I enjoyed SOUR better on its first listen. We'll see how it goes on subsequent listens.
Musically, I think this is more mature. Overall, lyrically there hasn't been much movement. OR has lots of room for growth and I look forward to it.
I think the lead singles are the strongest on the album. "bad idea right?" is spot on. -

-
Sep 8, 2023Definitely meant for 19 year olds. All of the songs sound like they would fit on Sour.
-
Sep 8, 2023Honestly this was pretty good, not every song tho. Best songs were lacy vampire making the bed and the second single

Sep 8, 2023She shows her great talent!! But this album is honestly monochromatic (like her cover arts) it has not offered anything new or surprising, and in doing so shes repeated the same sound over and over. Lyric wise its great, it accomplishes a lot and the message gets across perfectly. I think the best songs on the album are get him back! And the grudge. Lyric-wise making the bed.
-
Sep 8, 2023It does not bring a new sound to the Olivia experience. Yes more punk yet it heavily remind names like Baby Queen, Avril Lavigne and Paramore. However it still has the nice narrative element which carries the album again. Overall it is good but nothing new.
-
Sep 8, 2023Almost a parallel to Sour, it's a good album with some great tracks (The two singles, All American..., Logical). Once again another album which will deservedly receive praise, but it's not a masterpiece and nobody will call this album a magnum opus. Her time will come though.
-
Sep 8, 2023Kinda Mid for a 2023 album and sounds so much alike to Sour, Imma give it a 7/10
-
Sep 9, 2023I’m not really a fan of her music, but this album is better than sour in my opinion. Her voice is good and most of the songs are kinda catchy but I don’t really like the preppy and rebel atmosphere behind this album. However i think she made something better for her second album and she really chose the last song well about growing up and getting old as the album’s closure

Sep 11, 2023It is a good album, it is not a 10, the lyrics are very weak except for 3 songs
-
Sep 8, 2023The reviews for this album need to be serious. This album is so boring, I felt like she could do much better.
-
Sep 8, 2023This is the sound of a girl fully embracing her teen angst, but it is at a cost of repetitive tones and themes used throughout her intriguing and inviting sophomore album.

Sep 8, 2023Was really excited for guts as I loved sour, vampire and bad idea right are bangers obviously but all the new album tracks didn’t vibe with me, only ones I somewhat liked is lacy and teenage dream. Some tracks it was hard to even understand what she was saying. Definitely gunna keep listening and see if it grows on me but for now sour is still better

-
Sep 10, 2023The first five songs were great, especially Vampire. But after that? I was not impressed. I tuned out for the second half of the album.
-
Sep 8, 2023literally Disney Channel & Taylor Swift + the grudge is drivers license pt2
-
Sep 9, 2023It’s fairly enjoyable. It has a few that I could listen more then once and put in a playlist but it feels kind of top heavy I enjoyed the first few tracks far more then the latter half overall not bad I could rate those few songs individually as 7s or 8s but as a whole with the songs I don’t prefer as much a 6 feed right.

-
Sep 8, 2023Mixed bag. Some songs are so innovative like 'ballad of a homeschooled girl' and 'the grudge'. But other songs, she tries too hard to sound like Avril Lavigne. It's not that it's bad, it's just forgettable.
-
Sep 8, 2023it was alright nothing special, no song really stands out and there are quite a few fillers
-
Sep 8, 2023Olivia should find her artistic identity. this album looks like a set of songs rejected by Levine and Gracie Abrams. The lyrics aren't good enough and Sour is better. The vocals are not on point
-
Sep 9, 2023The vast majority of songs are good and catchy but it is still not very innovative, I would say it is only a little worse than their first work.

Sep 9, 2023not great, not bad. Has boring songs to listen and many of these is overrated. I Dont like the track called the grudge, the rest is ok and has a perfect track "making the bed" but this track can't save the album
-
Sep 9, 2023This album was SOO good. It’s a lot different than sour, but still has enough similarities to not make the change too jarring. My personal favorites at this point are: all American **** Lacy, the grudge, and ballad of the homeschooled girl. So far there are no skips!

Sep 9, 2023Sell out hollywood slop. I got tricked into listening to this, I just spent the time trying to understand what they were trying to package and sell with this sound. It certainly doesn't sound like a real person or personality created this, it's probably all the usual Swedish women or Antonoff on the credits.
-
Sep 8, 2023Olivia is someone doesn't really do it for me, I don't hate her songs but I also don't love them they're kind of just...there. I did like all american **** though, and bad idea right was also cute.
-

-
Sep 8, 2023The Grudge is easily the best song on this album. Logical and Love is embarrassing are also standouts. And the two released singles are catchy enough (I liked Vampire, Bad Idea Right i didn't like but hearing it everywhere has made it grow on me). So that's five songs out of 12... everything else on the album unfortunately is a skip for me. Too bad, I was hoping for a stronger showing.

Sep 10, 2023Not my type of music. This just sounds so noisy and nothing special unless you like screaming... The ballads are better but just okay level. Couldn't understand the rave reviews from critics. It's a extremely overrated record.

-
Sep 8, 2023This is worse than sour... It sounds the same as her older songs and there is no artistic evolution. I expected more tbh. The lyricism is something a 13 year old would write and the production has some good parts but her voice and the production don’t fit to the rock/grunge influence.
-
Sep 11, 2023i didn't like it tbh, too much voice filters and weird pop-rock. I found the ballads extremely weak. i preferred sour
-
Sep 8, 2023Not my cup of tea, sorry. There are a few good ones but the vibe over all isnt for me.
-
-
Sep 8, 2023No hate towards Olivia but it's nothing new. Exact same sound with SOUR, same theme. I don't get the hype
-
Sep 8, 2023most of the songs unfortunately did not click for me like sour did. bad idea the only song i would listen to it again.

Sep 9, 2023I was very much looking forward to this album, but I’m sorry to say that I am disappointed. It sounds a lot like an early aughts Avril Lavigne album, or a rockified knockoff Taylor Swift. The hooks disappoint, with decent build up but no emotional payoff. Lyrically, there are a lot of lines that are repeated multiple times, serving as filler between bars.
-
Sep 9, 2023four songs save the album, unfortunately it doesn't exceed expectations and neither does Sour
-
Sep 8, 2023To be honest, I am not disappointed because she delivered exactly what I thought she would give us: boring songs. Hopefully, she will evolve on her next project.

Sep 10, 2023I feel bits of innovation in some tracks, but it all feels like a continuation of SOUR, something that could've been on their previous album and would be the same.
-
Sep 8, 2023Only couple of good ones. No originality and lyrics sounds a lil childish in some parts. Its an okay work.
-
Sep 8, 2023
-
Sep 8, 2023The clear influence of many artists is involved in this album. The project could have been a big deal IF they would've released it back in the 2000s.

-
Sep 8, 2023It’s mostly a continuation of Sour. While the lyrics are relatable, it sounds a little same
-
Sep 9, 2023The album looks like it's a sour copy. You can't see evolution in the vocals. guts isn't bad, but it's far from good.
-
Sep 10, 2023The album is just an expansion of the sound brutal offered on her debut album, a sound that’s more of noisy, gimmicky and pretentious. Didn’t enjoy this record.

Sep 9, 2023Oh no, the drama mama is back... Why does the critics always give high ratings and reviews for her typical mediocre teenage break-up songs? WHAT THE HELL MAKES HER SO SPECIAL?
-
Sep 8, 2023The album doesn't even deserve that high praise, her appearance is like the American media trying to promote a Disney star.
-
-
Sep 8, 2023tragically boring album. sounds like a bad taylor swift album and those are already pretty **** all that acclaim was definitely bought by her label lmao

Sep 18, 2023“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.
-
Sep 15, 2023GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.
-
Sep 13, 2023These songs show that Rodrigo isn’t done after GUTS.
