It was with great trepidation that I approached ths cd after reading numerous reviews slagging it but, surprise, it's a great cd. Beyonce shows off her flair for stylish ballads such as 'Be with you', 'Yes', and 'Speechless', the latter with it's grand vocal finale. Beyonce is the business and so is her CD. With her beauty, voice, and overall style she is simply untoppable. Many hate on her, but her can replace her? She has too much to offer and not many artists can bring that much to the table. Not to mention her talent is versatile, so she easily able to appeal to almost any audience.

Very rarely will I pop in a new CD, listen to it all the way through, AND love all the songs. This debut Cd from Beyonce moves me. I could not disagree more with the critics who give negative reviews. Not only her voice gives the record it's appeal, but the songs to me are unique, there is not a somg out there that sounds like this CD at this time. None of beyonces albums have much depth to them but this one seems to be the most complete. Hits like "Baby Boy" "Naughty Girl" and "Crazy In Love" make a solid opening to the mediocre rest of the album. Overall not bad but still teases us into more as Beyonce often does with her albums. Best she has to offer in her discography.

Dangerously in Love is the album that showed the world that she doesn't need Kelly and Michelle. She proved with Dangerously in Love that she can release timeless songs (Crazy in Love and Baby Boy). And the 5 Grammys she won for the album are just another proof that the album is flaw-free.

"Dangerously In Love" is Beyonce's debut album. Although it isn't her best work to date, there are some amazing songs like sensual "Baby Boy" and "Naughty Girl", beautiful "Me, Myself And I" and "Dangerously In Love 2", and of course "CRAZY IN LOVE" which absolutely slays songs like idiotic Jay Z duet "That's How You Like It", boring "Hip Hop Star" and irritating, funky song called "Work"Dangerously In Love" is Beyonce's debut album. The other tracks are sentimental milquetoast ballads like "Yes", "Sings" and "Gift From Virgo" and moody R&B "The Closer I Get To You" and another me-and-my-future-husband duet "03' Bonnie & Clyde". "Dangerously In Love" is Beyonce's most casual album. It isn't as fun as "B'Day", as vulnerable as "I Am... Sasha Fierce" and as breathtaking as "4". But having "Crazy In Love", "Naughty Girl" and "Baby Boy" one album is an automatic win!

I like Beyonce. She's gorgeous, talented and appears to be pretty grounded. But upon the release of her debut solo disc Dangerously In Love (and amidst the critical acclaim it garnered) I decided to get the album--boy, did it disappoint! The first handful of tracks (especially the international horn-blarin' smash single "Crazy In Love") sounded brilliant, everything I expected I like Beyonce. The first handful of tracks (especially the international horn-blarin' smash single "Crazy In Love") sounded brilliant, everything I expected the ex-Destiny's Child leader to produce as a solo artist. But halfway through and this shockingly long record starts getting bland--it's not that they're not credible, respectable songs, it's just that they're bland and Dangerously gets a bit dangerously close to being too ballad-influenced. Beyonce's stellar and oft-fluid singing skills certainly help listeners get through the tepid, boring material. Decent, credible and definitely a respectable attempt, but nothing brilliant--get B'Day instead if possible. Expand

To me the CD isn't good. She needs to stay in a group. There are only 4 songs that are good. The two with Jay-z,the one with Missy, and Dangerously in love it self and that came from Survivor. She can sing but when she was with the group it was better.

NOT WORTH THE HYPE! All the songs are slow, not fun. I feel like the colaborative efforts by Big Boi, Sean Paul, and Missy are wasted. They could have done a lot more. The only good song is the star track with Jay-Z.

I gave it a 2 because of the 2 talents on the CD - Jay Z and Sean Paul. C'mon Beyonce you look like a hoocie-fied video Hoe prancing around Jigga. Get back with your group - they help you with class. Kelly is the sweetest, and Michelle is following her lord to the end, GOOD GIRL - heard she was in Guyana recently - Big Up Gt Massive.

this CD is nothing but pure commercial crap, only reason people like it is because it has club hits this is as bad as Ashanti's it gets so boring when all she does is talk about Jay-Z , its to reptative a lot of the people who featured on this CD wasted there talent. this is a horrible attempt to be J-lo and trying to be J-Lo is just lame

Ugh. Boring, repetitive, and trite. Good vocal range and good looks do not a good singer make. I also love how Metacritic allows posters like Vicky g. below to insult people (maybe all the misspellings made it go through the profanity filter, eh?) if they disagree with her narrow point of view. You know what Vicky G? I CAN hate if I want to.

I give it two because of the appearance of two SUPERSTARS - Sean Paul and Jay Z...don't mean to hate on Missy, but I can't honestly put three in the rating, it'll hurt my heart. Beyonce you absolutely, positively need your group or some banging collab.s. You are horrible by yourself - this is ridiculous. You need to stop acting diva-like - U ain't. And the press need to stop swelling her head, this cd can't hold its own, if honest people would admit it. I am so perturbed at the Grammy's for that travesty - Beyonce beat out R. Kelly and Ashanti - SHAME ON THE GRAMMYS, they should apologise to the music-loving public. Like JayZ said - ur sh&t is garbage... I know someone out there is listening with good ears though, and they (Bless their soul) put a stop to Beyonce releasing a second single, and pushed for a Destiny's Child album, Lord know I need to hear that blessed voice of Michelle, and the true lead singer Kelly shine. The saying goes PRIDE goeth before a FALL...so I encourage you Beyonce - PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE, GO GO GO!!! Expand

Beyonce sings in a way that is so good but what she doesn't realize the way she sings is so clumped together that I and many others can't understand and don't want to understand what she is actually saying.

Perhaps inevitably, the desperate urge to cover every musical base from dancefloor to soul-ballad means that there is barely a track here with any distinctive identity or even a tune.
  2. One of the most refreshing modern R&B records from a diva-ascendant in a long time.

Things degenerate into a dreary stream of self-pitying/self-mythologising ballads. [Sep 2003, p.106]
