Not bad but severely overrated. Safer than milk, i.e. TOO safe, no back-bone, no risks, virtually no excitement. Cool easy listening by a light jazzy voice. Nora Jones one in a million success is no confusion once you begin to pierce individually the soft ballads she spins. It just puts you at peace...but it is flawed by a gradual pace and lack of compositional diversity.

  1. There's a seductive quality to the simple yet sophisticated and intimate ambience Jones creates with this music.
  2. A showcase for Jones' remarkable voice, the disc captures a singer whose rare instinct for interpretation always serves the song, rather than working against it.
  3. Her readings of the Hank Williams classic, "Cold Cold Heart" and Hoagy Carmichael's "The Nearness of You" alone are worth the price of the CD.
