Classic Rock MagazineOct 4, 2021A richly dense experience that also channels syncopated avant-pop, semi-symphonic prog and luxuriant soft-rock. [Sep 2021, p.74]

Oct 4, 2021It’s a lot to take in, but the compact and well-executed transitions make sense of the chaos.

Oct 4, 2021Among its mix of roistering anthems and melodramatic balladry, ‘9’ exudes a supple confidence throughout, engaging in some of the most enthralling Australian psychedelia to emerge from 2021 (of which there is plenty).

Oct 6, 2021It’s not all perfect - “Czech Locomotive” and “Toast” drag - but this is a refreshing and genuinely engaging album.

UncutOct 4, 2021After reaching for Bowie-esque grandeur on the opening "Song For Agnes," they lock into an INXS-style chromium-funk groove on "America's Cup" and reimagine The Clash as a synth-punk band on the speed-burner "Human Touch." [Nov 2021, p.32]

Oct 4, 2021Unfortunately, the biggest misses are at the heart of the album, as the over-long and manic “Pink Lunettes” is crazed from a bad drug trip or just 18 months cooped up, pin-balling around searching for meaning with grating lyrics. ... The finale recalls the opener with a swirling mix of electro, longing, and strings, pedal-affected guitars and keyboards, doing an admirable job recalling the best of Pink Floyd but skewed through a modern filter, bookending the shaky 9 on an exhilarating note.

Oct 4, 2021Too many of the songs fail to deliver the mind blowing moments that the band have been capable of in the past.
