The score I gave it was a 4 based upon myself being a longtime fan (been listening to them for 12 years and have bought and liked every album since Zos Kia Cvltvs). If you're that type of fan, don't buy this. This simply isn't the same band. Yeah it's the same people. If you're that type of fan, don't buy this. This simply isn't the same band. Yeah it's the same people. Nergal is still there (i am personally happy for his success against cancer) but he seems to be trying to convince himself he's still just as angry and hateful as he was before cancer. The music is simply watered down, the lyrics are lazy (unless you love an entire album of praising satan non stop. I'm aware of the title but it gets boring. sorry.) and there is simply nothing to like. Not one single track I enjoyed.

If you had never gotten into Behemoth before because they were too extreme for you then you may like this. Long time fans will be disappointed by this though.

well, not so much... something happened to me, I just can't enjoy those old men screaming unniteligible words and lack of melody or something I can remember the song for 2 minutes after i press stop anymore.

The Satanist is a terrific coil of most everything Behemoth have ever done well, a strangely hopeful vision of hell wrested away from its very grip.

This is a very reflective record that refuses to exist only on one level, and though it's a cliche to say it, the more you put into it, the more you'll get out of it. [1 Feb 2014, p.52]

They're career musicians active since the '90s, but here, they actually sound excited again.
