RhodriTMay 7, 2007I was really disappointed with this album especially after how great his previous work was. Nothing here is a patch on the magic of "Tristan" or "Wind In The Wires". It's shame. I know it's completely different in tone and production from his other albums, but I just didn't think it had that spark promised by his music history.

JesseS.Jun 8, 2007It's difficult to get over the cover artwork: reminds me of that sketch-character on MAD T.V. (the tall guy playing a little boy). You can't judge a record by its cover; I'm not doing that. I just find the music too boring and derivative to write about. Even Marianne Faithful as a magpie (or whatever) sounds dull and obtuse to me. Blah.

mikeyfMay 2, 2007soulful as soulful can be. transcsends labeling. highly evolved aesthetic is an understatement. bowie's successor. wait'll he learns to rock - oy gevelt - watch out!

MarkPMay 3, 2007Reasonably talented, overly pretentious, like Bowie, a desperate wannabe. Gave it 3 listens based on other's favourable reviews... way over-rated, there are far more creative, eclectic, tasteful and substantial talents out there, particularly across the ocean where people are not dumbed down by middle of the road drivvel like oasis. Mark.

mikefMay 8, 2007caught his act warming up for a. winehouse at elect. factory in phila, pa last sat. night. boy did they stink the place up (i'd say "shit the bed", but that'd be gross). went hoping for something tolerable, but he's a really a very bad live act. to his credit, he seems to know it - mentioned amy's name six times.

seandJul 29, 2007starts off with some of the best songs of the year and energy to match then just kind of peters off around the middle and picks up slightly at the end

mattaMar 5, 2007His most complete album to date. Very gorgeous and coherent. "The Magic Position" "Accident & Emergency" "Get Lost" and "The Stars" are just amazing. There are a few duds, but overall, this is great stuff. Only The Arcade Fire and Of Montreal are better so far this year.

EvanHMar 6, 2007Stellar album. It's rare to find a pop sound in a coherent and full album. Strings and voice compliment each other well.

WestonT.Jun 4, 2007If an album could describe the joy of not giving a damn, but the pain of knowing why caring isn't worth it, The Magic Position might be it. All I know is that Wolf hasn't had to had to apologize for any of his music to date (like Bowie did about his pop days...) but he will eventually. He shouldn't worry about this one.

AlexEJun 5, 2007Pure Genius. He rocked Berlin. Shame he won't do concerts anymore by the end of the year.

NikkiGJul 11, 2007Fun when it wants to be... yet convincingly serious when it wants to be as well. Very enjoyable to listen to!

Even at his laziest, Wolf sounds vastly more intelligent, committed and interesting than his supposed rivals, and "The Magic Position" is full of heart, warmth and beauty.

It’s easy to overlook a few fizzles in an album stuffed with fireworks.
