  • Summary: His fifth album finds the Texan singer-songwriter backed by a full band.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 7
  2. Negative: 0 out of 7
  1. A travel kaleidoscope of a neverending road passing by the window.

The Brag And Cuss gently pulses with tasteful power. [Jul 2007, p.168]
  3. Even with the band, what comes through most clearly is Votolato's voice, which is better than ever here, rough and emotive, honest to a fault.
  4. Votolato's raspy voice and full arrangements bring depth to lopers like "Lilly White" and "Before You Were Born," making this record charmingly earthbound.
  5. At worst, the brag & cuss is overly affected (with its multiple “only whiskey can kill the pain” references), but at best, it’s completely disarming.
  6. While it never outshines the alt-country canon that precedes it, The Brag & Cuss is a welcome addition to the genre, an album that understands its influences and rarely oversteps the boundaries they’ve set.
  7. Under The Radar

In the end the memorable moments of this fans-only effort are largely drowned out by the all encompassing sameness of the remainder. [#17, p.96]

Its picks up where Makers left off, and in true Rocky style, he once again outdoes himself. Great Album start to finish.

Its just like the other Rocky albums in that you get drawn in by a few songs and then you cant stop.
