An album with little clear concept. The cover and songs don't convey anything in common and only a few tracks sound good. But it doesn't even sound like something like an album to relate.
    Looks like a mixtape

It is such a promising EP by Megan Thee Stallion. I really loved **** and the collaboration with Kehlani. And I really believe her debut LP will be so good!

Half of this album is unlistenable and sounds the same as everything she has done.

Ain't Equal / Savage / Captain Hook re stand out tracks.

Megan does experiment with some different sounds & as much as I love when artists experiment with different sounds … this is a very lukewarm attempt. These tracks aren’t horrible - I think there’s potential here both in the R&B and Melodic rap attempts, and I will always applaud someone who tries to expand their sound.- But

Meg has thus far stayed ahead of the crowd b/c she stood out. Everyone is doing melodic/singing things, and her attempt here doesn’t add anything to that scene. So this puts her right in the middle of the crowd.

I know Megan wanted to do everything right with this EP, but I feel like this was not her real start in the music industry, Savage is quite possibly the strongest song on the EP, but BT-CH is the most complete song and a perfect and spectacular rap., and the song Ain`t Equal was the perfect start for an album that was going to have an impact on the industry. suga is a solid ep. megan went off highkey! it got a little boring towards the end but other than that, i think she did a really good job on this ep. my top 3 include savage, rich, and aint equal.

Meg brings some of her most versatile work with this EP, even in the midst of label drama and personal tragedies in her family. She is at her most vulnerable with songs like "Crying in the Car" but also reaches a triumphant high with her hit "Savage" and "Ain't Equal."

All in all Suga is a very promising work, an enjoyable snapshot of a rapper becoming a bona fide star.

Just as Fever captured a snapshot of a young artist breaking through to worldwide fame in real time, Suga finds Megan Thee Stallion experiencing the growing pains of success. The songs reflect this in their lyrical content, overall shift in tonality, and even in the small steps they take towards more commercial sounds.

A frustrating project that falls short of its composer’s talent.
