  1. In the context of the movie almost all of these songs are great. But as a soundtrack album, Scott Pilgrim doesn't reach the same greatness.
  2. The charm of those songs fades outside the film, leaving the Nigel Godrich- produced soundtrack to get over on a lush new Beck song, "Ramona," and some real garage rock, notably Plumtree's Nineties nugget "Scott Pilgrim," which proves naif enthusiasm doesn't need irony to be cute.
  3. Like the similarly star-studded (but bland) "Twilight" and (insufferably twee) "Juno" soundtracks, Scott Pilgrim is something less than the sum of its parts.

A mash up of genres, decades and tones containing artists such as Sex Bob-Omb, Beachwood Sparks, Beck and The Rolling Stones, this soundtrack is great fun to listen to. Maybe if you haven't seen the movie it might all seem a bit random, so being a fan could help, but as long as you appreciate good songs you will probably like it.

The fictional SexThe movie is an achievement for visual comic adaptation and the soundtrack, while not as good, does it quite a justice. The fictional Sex Bob-Omb could be successful in the industry judging from their four short tracks. The songs from The Bluetones, T.Rex, and Blood Red Shoes are the diamonds, but the album is appealing enough to keep me playing it every once and a while. Full Review »

As well as featuring all the songs performed by the various bands from the movie (Sex Bob-Omb, Crash and the Boys) there's also a great collection of songs from other artists included in the film such as The Rolling Stones, T.Rex, Metric, Broken Social Scene, Plumtree and a handful more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the movie or even the graphic novels. Full Review »
