Excellently crafted, constantly surprising, subdued and cerebral or unobtainable and bombastic.
    Black Midi dropped a classic.

Some songs doesn't work so well, alright, but Black Midi is daring as no other band nowadays and for a debut, they are very decided and know exactly the kind of music they want to make, in that case, one type that it can't be labeled such uniquely

For an irritating math rock, Schlagenheim truly amuses. The rage, obsession, and desolation are inflicted without corruption. Yet something was a bit off, that is from the fire itself.

It took me longer than it should have to realize this alvums brilliance. It sounds so diffrent and genreless. The powerhouse guitar playing and drums make this a stellar "drone guitar black metal "output. The lyrics never matter because they don't need to. They are secondary to the music. They sound eager and jaded with nilhism despite the youthful energy. I liked this album alot.It took me longer than it should have to realize this alvums brilliance. Great to see new artists rising. I love the sense of style of this album. It's very explosive, impactful and the distorted guitars add to it in a nice way. The lyrics are really dark at places. Great debut album. One of my favorites from last year. Love the math style to this. The drumming is insanely good. The moments where the drum playing goes off beat and is breaking the rhythm is strangely awesome. The singing is strangely awesome too, especially when they saturate the microphone, it gets super intense.

Everything is in it´s right place. Masterclass in crafting of sounds, if you got the chance to check out the stems, what you see is layers and layers of sound that give this warm (or cold if its necessary) wave of sound that moves with a purpose. Never ending energy from an album that contains no bad moments at all. One of the best albums of rock and guitar of the decade. Like many otherEverything is in it´s right place. Granted, the band's debased, arhythmic songwriting sounds a little obnoxious, if deliberately so, but they sure know how to translate their disarray into compelling expressionist noise.

It does little to dispel any of the mystery that surrounds the band, even while proving them worthy of the praise they've received across the pond.
