he album for its self contains a lot of R&B, Soul hits, but it also has some misses. Some of the tracks felt like they were missing something, but the rest of the songs, and the collaborations turned out amazing, the instrumentals and vocals on point. Ariana did a great job with this album

well known, it´s far removed from pop, it is a well-accomplished r & b work, an exploration of more uncomplicated themes, good vocals, however she should not get used to it or it will always sound the same.

Ariana Grande shines through with this highly R&B-influenced 14-track record. Although not as ambitious as her previous work, she still proves herself worthy of attention and listening to after leaving the power-pop hits for sultry, slow-tempo R&B - a genre Ariana had wanted to dabble in since the beginning of her career. I would consider it a marvelous musical journey.

This new album seems to be the third part of a trilogy that began with Sweetener and it followed with Thank U Next. An incredible good-structured album with big r&b influences that take Grande to a more nature stage. We can find a great cohesion, that one who Dangerous Woman didn't have. Best tracks: Safety Net, Off The Table and Love Language.

In her sixth album, Ariana gave us BGM to be played in coronavirus quarantine. The lovey-dovey theme is making the album lovely but combined with her more R&B-based beautiful vocal also with her subpar songwriting makes 'positions' a little bit complicated.

It's more like Ariana's side project to enrich and broaden her music catalog.

I found Positions, Ariana Grande’s latest album, to be her best yet, and the only one I have given a positive review to so far (though “Dangerous Woman” came very close). The reason for this? Her music became so much better. Sure, the lyrics can be a little dicey at times (I wish she wouldn’t sexualize them as much), though from a musical standpoint, at least in my opinion Positions is leaps and bounds over its predecessors, “Sweetener” and “thank u, next”. The lyrics were also far less annoying than in “Sweetener” and though just as expletive-ridden as “thank u, next”, the lyrics seemed to me to be more well-written. Now, this is not to say that Positions isn’t without its issues, with trap drums in several songs (though it seems as if Grande is moving away from those, or maybe that’s just my optimism speaking) and many of the swearing seeming a bit unnecessary. Overall though, I was left with a fairly positive experience. Thanks to the character limit, I am unable to provide my song-by-song commentary. In general, I actually really liked Grande’s latest. It’s a musical upgrade from her previous releases and perhaps is her best yet in that regard (less uneven than “Dangerous Woman”). There really is a lot to be admired in this release, though it would have been nice if it wasn’t as sexualized. Then again, I guess that is just Grande’s style. Anyway, I really hope that Grande continues the one-a-year streak that has been going on for a while, and now that I am all caught up with her albums, hopefully we have reached the point where her music style changes a bit. (Adult or older teen) Fans of pop will appreciate this album, as well as Grande’s fanbase. I look forward to listening to Grande’s next release whenever it comes out, and hopefully she will establish an album winning streak building off of Positions. Highlights: just like magic, safety net, my hair, west side, positions, obvious, pov, and worst behavior.

Thank U, Next was such a sad album while Positions is a feel good, very fun album. And the contrast between these two makes Positions even more enjoyable and beautiful to listen to. You can tell they had a lot of fun making this album, with surprising and super fun tracks like "34+35" or even "love language". Opening the album with "shut up" a track full of strings and vocal layers was a great choice, it sounds perfect as an intro not too overwhelming and definitely not boring either, it almost sounds like a dark version of a Disney soundtrack. I particularly love that she experienced with R&B throughout the album, especially on "my hair" which you can tell has a huge Mariah / 90s divas influence. Overall I think this is a fantastic album packed with very refreshing songs that closes a chapter for her, and also introduces us to a new sound that I hope she continues experiencing with in the next one. This truly is an album that Ariana was born to make. Expand

"Positions" the album is full of influences that come from different places (pop, 80's disco and r&b) that are well mixed and put together, emphasizing the vocals of one of nowadays' best vocalists.
This album is a possible witness of a personal and professional growth for a female artist in the music industry: by giving us an album that's unlike anything she's done before, Mrs. Grande shows us that she can actually be considered one of the few able to surprise the audience.

Positions consolidates Grande as the great artist that she is, being her most R&B album so far, she doesn't skimp on vocals like she did on her previous album (thank u,next) on tracks like shut up, safety net and (mainly) my hair the artist shows why she deserves the title of greatest vocalist of her generation. Positions is practically a perfect pure r&b album if it weren't for the production of some tracks that leave something to be desired at certain times. A more mature (and better) version of ‘sweetener’ that gets better every time you listen. Ariana proves once again that she is not a simple singles artist but that she can also deliver complex and cohesive albums. Stating her ground as a R&B Icon, Ari launches herself again into the (almost) unknown, some could say that... Grande just created her own style. Expand

Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

Grande laid bare may well be seen as a stopgap in her canon, using taboo to checkmate her past trauma, but it does pull off the rare feat of at least sounding effortless.

With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
