    The sound of Positions is certainly new: pop has taken a back seat and contemporary R&B is the real protagonist. Entirely written by the performer herself, assisted by close friends and collaborators, Positions offers some of the freest and most    More confident, more sure of herself, more satisfied and sexier. This is what Ariana Grande looks like on her sixth studio album Positions.
    The sound of Positions is certainly new: pop has taken a back seat and contemporary R&B is the real protagonist. Entirely written by the performer herself, assisted by close friends and collaborators, Positions offers some of the freest and most unfiltered lyrics that Grande has ever sung and performed. Tracks like My Hair, Love Language and Just Like Magic are real anthems to femininity, sexuality, power, and freedom, the central themes of the record.
    Although there are sentimental and intimate ballads such as Off the Table and POV, among the best composed songs by Grande, the main purpose of Positions is the exaltation of a captivating and at times provocative positivity, which wants to leave old painful experiences behind.
    While sticking to an R&B line as strong as ever, it's hard for Grande and her producers to break away from the trap and hip hop influences introduced first with Sweetener, then especially with Thank U, Next. The general production of the record maintains a more than sufficient quality. The main flaw is the weak musical cohesion between the different tracks of the project, which is sometimes fluctuating.
    Textually speaking, Positions sees Grande taking the reins as songwriter more freely, sexily and forcefully than ever before. Nonetheless, qualitatively defining the lyrics of the project in a single way is quite difficult: the attention, care and choice of linguistic register depend on the individual songs. If with the title track, Shut Up, Just Like Magic and Motive Grande keeps herself on a level suitable for a pop star, in Off The Table, Safety Net and POV she surpasses herself, demonstrating a very high compositional ability. The single 34+35, the most sexually explicit song ever performed by Grande, and the track Nasty are instead the most ambiguous songs: frivolous, simple and not at all sentimental, they definitely lower the quality of the album, despite being catchy and captivating.
    The real highlight of the album is undoubtedly Grande's vocal virtuosity. Never so light and powerful at the same time, never so spontaneous, never so clean has Ariana Grande been in the interpretation of her songs. To say that in My Hair her whistle register is jaw-dropping is an understatement.
    Overall, Positions presents itself as a project full of potential. Although difficult to delineate qualitatively in a universal way, it was certainly useful for its interpreter to write more lightheartedly about her life and feelings, to let go of the pressure, and to explore new musical fields; and that's what matters to Grande.    … Expand

    Positions, Ariana Grande’s 6th studio album came after a streak in her career. 2 successful albums and the predecessor being her biggest to date. With this said, Positions feels a little bit rushed and one of the weakest albums of the year. Still, there are some highlights in this record, such as “pov”, “safety net” and the vocal masterpiece “my hair”.

    Ariana Grande really knows how to use her voice. With a touch of maturity during her lifetime she was able to express herself better through "positions." The harmonies make Ari a no-remover brand.

    The sound is so perfect for the vibe she was going for and this album is truly so underrated. Just Like Magic is absolutely the best song on this album. I don't know why most people disliked on this album.
    "just like magic", "safety net", "six thirty" ,"nasty" and "pov" are hidden gems . This is my favorite album of hers.

    I hate that cover lmao but the album itself is very on par with her previous work, not sure why it fell between the chairs like it did. Ariana has solidified herself as a sophisticated pop star, she knows her strengths, she knows her style, she knows what works for her, it may be a rather anemic in performance sometimes compared to previous work (prob what she was going for, knowing she’sI hate that cover lmao but the album itself is very on par with her previous work, not sure why it fell between the chairs like it did. I LOVED my hair and love language, to complete a respectable top 3. There are some fillers (uhm, just like magic) but u know that saying about trash and treasure lmao.     So after listening to "thank u, next" I had some expectation for this album, and they were met, some of them. The production, for example, I think is impeccable. This is such a well produced album... and that's all. This is one of the most mediocre and forgettable albums I've heard. I feel like she made it because she needed something to give to her label. She challenges herself vocally to explore new territories and her personal and funny lyrics explore the themes in ways both thoughtful and hilarious. Another brilliant album.

Track 1 (shut up) wasn't the best song the chorus was meh, but love the beginning, just wish the chorus was what it was. Track 2 (34+35) this song was this best single to the album, love the spicy lyrics to the track, and the ending. Track 3 (Motive ft. Doja Cat) this song was the best collaboration on the album, wish it was longer tho. Track 4 (Just like Magic) I love the story telling to this track the tribute to her ex mac (rip) love the vibe it gives the motivation it gives. Track 5 (off the table ft. The Weeknd) This is my least favorite collaboration the have done because of the bass drum in this song, it annoys me, but there the best duo to exist no doubt. Track 6 (six thirty) one thing this album does is the references the title tracks did, that's really creative, I like the bridge to this song so much, and live the Violins in there too! Track 7 (safety net ft. Ty Dolla $ign) this is top 3 on this album, they need another collaboration, this so a masterpiece, the bridge makes it so much better! Track 8 (my hair) this song is a vibe the whistle tones shocked me and the jazz feel make it soooo unique. Track 9 (nasty) this song is the type of song u listen to and look at the mirror and feel urself, love the bridge! Track 10 (west side) this song gave what it needs to give, the slow and chill song, there's no bridge but it didn't need one to be great. Track 11 ( love language) this song is the most unique song and wried to me, I don't vibe with this song, it's not for me. Track 12 (Positions) this is the perfect song to introduce the positions era, the r&b feel and vibe just chefs kiss. Track 14 (POV) this song is perfect In every way!!!! -deluxe track 15( some one like u) this song is like west side chill but gave what it needed to give. Track 16 (test drive) this song is a nice track to like to in the car and that's pretty much it. Track 17( remix 34+35 ft. Doja cat and Megan thee stallion) i think this song was unnecessary, Ariana could've had Megan one another track.     As a huge fan of her music, album consists of so many filers and similar sounds. Love language, motive,positions, my hair,pov and safety net are the ones that stand out. I also agree that she showed very little musical growth as an artist after her tun era.

    An amazing mix of R&B with Pop and consistently great tracks. Positions manages to provide variety without losing the Ariana we all know and love. The orchestral add ins throughout the album add a beautiful touch that was needed in Ariana’s music, and the vocals, as usual, do not disappoint.

    Positions is her best work when it comes to the vocal production, the layering, the harmonies are absolutely divine and never too much. This album is way more rnb infused that her previous albums and is way less uptempo with loud instrumentals, the instrumentals are discreet and create an atmosphere. This is a chile sweet soothing album putting you on a vibe. I really really love this project.

    Positions by Ariana Grande is a good album. I think this album is a good, perfect yet classic album. I love the "POV" and "Position." But some are not enjoyable songs like "34+35". I wish I could like this. But still, I love her album, and by the way, her cover and her face were beautiful.

Positions não é algo que se leva muito a sério, obvio que é inegável a habilidade vocal da Ariana, mas um álbum não é feito só disso, musicas tão genéricas e entediantes pra uma cantora tão boa. Mas há algumas que se salvam e até me divertem, especialmente as colaborações com Doja Cat e Megan Thee Stalion. The Weeknd e Ty Dolla foram desperdiçados no álbum. Devia ter chamado a Gaga pra alguma coisa mas ela ia recusar porque é preguiçosa então não vou te cobrar isso.     This is not a bad album per se. In fact, it's pretty entertaining. However, in the grander scheme of things, i.e. Grande's career, it's very uncompelling. The lyrics are very trite and the music sounds overproduced and unfinished at the same time (it's really weird). Overall, it's actually quite enjoyable and not at all boring.

    I loved the new style Ariana went with. her vocals stood out the most on this album, I love how some of these tracks on the album are deep with a beautiful meaning, and others are fun sex songs that can be listened to with vocals backing it up!!! good one

    Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

    With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
