    Such an unnecessary album in her discography. She needs to take a break and get some new inspiration; apart from a few songs like My Hair, she is just so watered down and it's more of the same trap inspired pop. It's all just generic with some cringe and immature lyrics and songwriting. Hopefully her next one can sound like Sweetener.

    Positions is clearly an album about growth and finding happiness after so much problems that Ariana Grande been trough. This may be a pop album, but we can see the R&B inspired on the instrumentals and on the vocals. All together it sounds like heaven.
    My congratulations to this amazing album.

    O álbum parece uma versão americana dos Barões da pisadinha, extremamente genérico como tudo que ela faz. Um terror para os ouvidos. Cantores como Lana Del Rey, Weyes Blood, Clairo e Conan são a salvação da nossa geração com obras autorais e de qualidade.

    Out of all of her albums, this one is the weakest album second to Sweetener. Some things that I don’t like about this album are:
    -> There’s one song that’s a carbon copy of thank u, next.

    Out of all of her albums, this one is the weakest album second to Sweetener. Some things that I don’t like about this album are:

    -> A lot of songs are forgettable.
    -> Some of the song’s production value is mediocre at best.
    -> Some of the song’s lyrics are generic or even worse.
    -> Ariana didn’t take enough break. She released 3 albums in 12 months time frame (sweetener, thank u, next, and positions) and it’s taking a toll on her creativity and artistry. Out of 14 songs, I only like 6 songs. So it’s only around 43% of the album’s entire content. Songs that I like are:
    -> motive ft. Doja Cat (since Doja’s verse saved the song).
    -> just like magic (even though it’s a trap song, she delivered it really well).
    -> safety net ft. ty dolla $ign (they both carried the song really well).
    -> my hair (the entire album should’ve had this song’s vibe since it sounds like a good RnB song in this album).
    -> positions (a well-made lead single).
    -> pov (should’ve been a single instead of 34+35).

    Songs that I don’t like:
    -> shut up (I can’t recognize the song’s structure).
    -> 34+35 (lyric is not good, instrumental is a carbon copy of thank u, next).
    -> nasty (I was excited when I heard the snippet. when I heard the entire song it was a big disappointment for me).
    -> west side (very boring).
    -> love language (the production is a bit messy, especially at the end. she shouldn’t include that part into the song).
    -> obvious (-ly forgettable). About “off the table ft. The Weeknd”, that song is not bad. Lyrics and production value is good. The only drawback is the tempo. It’s too slow for my taste and I almost fell asleep while listening to it. Overall, this album was a whole rollercoaster. Many ups, many downs. And let me remind you that there are 21 producers (including Ariana herself) working in this album so that tells you a lot.

    This album is pretty meh to me. I do like the combination of orchestral instruments and electronic beats on some of the songs (shut up, 34+35, love language, etc) but sadly the album doesn't explore that sound as much as I thought it would. Everything after track 3 kinda felt like listening to a vacuum of pop noise, but then after "Nasty", everything gets good again. So I dunno what to sayThis album is pretty meh to me. This album is truly one of my favourites ever.. Ariana Grande managed to combine good enough lyrics with an astonishing production. Her vocal performance is completely out of this world and honestly I believe this is one of her best works on that department, if not the best. I hope that she dives into rnb even more in the future.

    After releasing two of the best pop albums in the last years, Ariana tried to find herself in a bunch of songs that didn't felt unique or authentic. Even that it has some of her best songs to date (Safety Net, Positions, Pov) she fails to deliver artistic growth on it.

    I used to be a pretty big Ariana fan. When I was 10 I listened to her cover version of "Grenade" and the "Victorious" songs before her debut album was even released. "My Everything" was the first album of hers that I bought and I liked it and I was obsessed with "Dangerous Woman". But then she released the disappointing "Sweetener" and my Ariana phase ended abruptly. I did however loveI used to be a pretty big Ariana fan. I did however love "thank u, next" and I hoped that she would be back on track now but now she released "Positions" and it's a big downgrade from its predecessor. When I heard that it’s a concept album about sex I was excited at first and expected something like Madonna's "Erotica" or Janet Jackson's "Janet". Turns out that my expectations were way too high.

    The album starts off with "shut up". A ridiculously short and ridiculously terrible song. The lyrics and the melody sound like the writers/Ariana did not even try to create a good song. Sonically it reminds me of her debut album "Yours Truly". The worst album opener and one of the worst songs of Ariana's career. Ariana's current single "34+35" is the second song on the album. The lyrics and the song's "creative" title are so in your face it's kind of like when a kid learns about something "bad" and can’t stop talking about it obsessively. It’s kind of tacky. The track is also very generic and boring. "motive", the highly anticipated Doja Cat collaboration, is the third track. It’s one of the few highlights on the album, I really like it. Doja's verse is very good and her and Ariana's voice sound nice together. The song's production is also not as boring and predictable as most of the album's tracks.
    The next song is "just like magic". Is it just me or does the majority of this song sound exactly like "Everyday"? The verses are okay but the monotone chorus ruins it. Next there’s "off the table", a fan favorite and Ariana's second collaboration with The Weeknd. Lyrically the song is very nice but sonically it’s just very boring. Imma stick to "Love Me Harder".
    "six thirty" is the sixth track and I hate it. Will this girl ever leave the tired trap sound alone? This song is painfully generic and I can’t believe that she thought repeating "are you down wassup?" would make a good chorus. NO! I like the song's intro/outro though so that’s something I guess.
    "safety net" featuring Ty Dolla $ign is the seventh song on the album. This one had to grow on me but it finally clicked and now I really really like it. I gotta point out the track's intro as well because it’s heaven. A highlight.
    "my hair" is another fan favorite and I actually started to like this one as well over time. It’s a fun track that incorporates elements of doo-wop. The next song "nasty" was the first song that stood out when I first heard the album. I knew that fans were excited about this one before the album came out so I was curious to see what the hype is all about. It’s a very sexy R&B song and a clear standout track on this record. I don’t have anything to say about "west side". In my opinion that song is just there. Not good, not bad, just very boring and kinda monotonous.
    "love language" gets a very clear no from me. This song is another "Sweetener" mess aka it sounds like Wii music. It’s a very uneventful song and I don’t like the chorus at all. I also don’t know why it needed that outro? I do like the strings (?) that you can hear in the intro and in the chorus. When the title track was released I was very disappointed at first. It wasn’t bad but not as good as her previous lead singles. Not even on the same level as "The Way". The song grew on me but I still don’t think it’s lead single material. I really don’t know what I can say about "obvious". It’s another song that’s just there. The pre-chorus is kinda bad. Definitely a filler. The album ends with the fan favorite "pov" which is currently becoming another "breathin" type of sleeper hit for Ariana. I really like it lyrically and the vocals on this song are beautiful. It’s an alright song overall and a cute outro but not one of my faves. Definitely one of the better songs on this album though.

    This album was another "Sweetener" situation for me. I had high expectations and ended up being very disappointed. It’s not a terrible album but it’s just painfully boring and monotonous. You have to give this album a couple of listens because on my first few spins everything sounded the exact same and I only discovered my highlights after a while. This might be my least favorite Ariana album. "Sweetener" had ridiculously bad lows but its rare highs were much better than the highlights on "Positions". Overall, an okay album that feels very rushed. But if you ever need something that you can play in the background this album is perfect for that.

    Highlights: safety net, motive, nasty, my hair & positions

    This album is absolutely terrible. She is supposed to be a role model and is singing about having sex? I can see her having a breakdown much like Britney Spears very soon

    Absolute generic pop trash. What the heck are even some of these lyrics?? What a downgrade from "thank u, next". The beats are catchy, but these lyrics are absolutely awful. Some songs literally sound like a Claire's background music or Justice lol

    She’s made better albums but it is very fitting for this year. Quite down tempo tracks. Very mellow but it works. The collaborations on the album are quite bad and thats simply why it doesn’t get the 10. My Hair, POV & Obvious are amazing and sound so well crafted and written.

    After an amazing album, Ariana steps down to generic rnb and proves that a good singer can make medium albums if she slips. 34+35 is forgettable, i couldn't even notice the song changed til Doja started singing and i was like "WTF? This ain't the Doja featuring". I'm deeply sad Ari made something so... average... waiting for the next album!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ariana Grande has came to bless our ears once again with such an R&B inspired album titled “Positions”. The album has 14 tracks which all have very excellent vocals and the instrumentals are well produced. The lead single of this album titled “Positions” is an amazing song worth listening and it has such a great vibe. The song did an astonishing job at debuting #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 Charts and overall has been high in streaming on all platforms. The rest of the tracks are also so great even if the vibe of the album has fluctuations at the first listen. Expand

    de fato não é um álbum ruim. as músicas são bem genéricas, a sonoridade é bem parecida com a do thank u, next, mas na minha opinião tun ainda é superior.
    as letras são medianas também, mas pra quantidade de compositores que são creditados no álbum é de se esperar algo superior.
    de longe as melhores músicas são positions e pov.

    I liked TUN a lot so I started listening to this album with great expectations and dont get me wrong I like R&B but this was a disrespect to R&B. Yeah her vocals are good as always but she exaggerated her vocals so much that it became annoying and irritating. The lyrics are childish and basic. Pick up a 16 year old and he/she can write better than this. Fun album and great vocals as we all expect from Ariana . Songs like pov really hit you in feels . But i find this project rushed and a little unsatisfying , some production double layerd harmonies do not sit right with me and some songs are just too generic . Not a bad album at all but just not an improvement from Thank U , Next .

    El albúm es completamente perfecto, cada canción es una obra de arte, es un albúm de creciente adquisición, en mi opinión a la primera vez puede parecer básico pero connel tiempo te das cuenta que es algo que Ariana disfruta cantar y que le va perfecto. Dulce voz con melodías un tanto agresivas, una obra maestra.

    Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

    Grande laid bare may well be seen as a stopgap in her canon, using taboo to checkmate her past trauma, but it does pull off the rare feat of at least sounding effortless.

    With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
