Fritts is the real deal. He may be able to put on different personas (his take as the abandoned son of a faded actor on the opening track “Errol Flynn” offers clear proof of that), but he also conveys the unfathomable nature of existence through his multilayered performances.

Oh My Goodness is informal and intimate, but with enough grit and groove to make it a joy. Given its quality, one hopes that Fritts will record again, and soon.

The songs Memphis Women And Chicken, Tuscaloosa, 1962 and Foolish Heart are highly enjoyable, but the highlight is the complex and moving Errol Flynn.

Civil Wars’ John Paul White and Alabama Shakes’ Ben Tanner leapt at the chance to produce his fourth album in 40 years and results are pleasing.
