MagnetMatt Pond PA shows it can rock out tastefully. [Fall 2007, p.102]
-
With each new release, its sound becomes more polished, and Last Light finds a groove between a radio-ready opus and an experimental jumble.
-
Last Light is an altogether different album from what we've heard before, as Matt Pond has rarely put himself in such close contact with his idols. Nevertheless, it's a leap forward for an artist who rarely, if ever, heads in the wrong direction.
-
UncutLike the five LPs preceding it, Last Light is dominated by autumnal mood pieces--but it rocks harder, making for a pleasing contrast with Pond's poignant lyrics and vocals.
-
Alternative PressThere's very little here to grab the listener. [Nov 2007, p.162]
-
The formula seems to be consistent throughout. Pond’s songwriting prowess is repeatedly outdone by his inexcusable execution.
-
Yet another standardized LP of glorified Dave Matthews tunes.
