  1. Kaleide is immediate and it rarely dulls, bar the slow start to "Anjelica Huston," before it bursts out into sparkling keyboards at the tail end.
  2. Retaining your sprightly playfulness while making a mature comeback isn't easy, but Sky Larkin straddle the two with ease.
  3. Kaleide runs out of steam towards its close--heaven knows why the original, blustery version of "Smarts" has made way for a sombre reworking--but it's still an enjoyable, grown-up follow-up to the band's debut.
  4. Nothing that features on Kaleide will come as a surprise to those familiar with Sky Larkin's debut, though it will please them.
  5. Kaleide works best when all of its individual fragments twist into vision as one.
  6. It's no great discredit to the album to say that Kaleide peaks with its first song. The remaining material rarely pushes Harkin to the dramatic heights of "Still Windmills", and the singer is guilty of leaning too heavily on vague metaphors. But Goodmanson's unfussy production is the ideal complement to this young band's fidgety energy.

Kaleide proves a little formula tweaking goes a long way. [Sep 2010, p.120]
  8. The songwriting isn't always strong enough to complete the package. Still, bookend tracks Still Windmills and Shade By Shade--each with a hook big enough to hang your coat on--show how far they could go.
  9. Uncut

Sky Larkin ultimately remain a little too Haley Mills. [Sep 2010, p.102]
  10. They're still a band with huge potential that isn't yet being completely fulfilled. Kaleide might please die-hards but for the rest it lacks in progression and new ideas.
