After the good suprise that was Art Official Age, this is a real let-down. Only 3 good songs and one of them is 20 years old...Hyped as very experimental, this album just relies on basic EDM sounds that mundane artists like David Guetta use all the time...what happenned to the genius that was Prince?

Prince is one of, if not my favorite artist all-time. With that being said, this album feels like a clear attempt to hop on a trend and it does not go over well at all. Its sad that one of the albums true highlights is the revisiting of past hits at the start of "Million $ Show". Outside of that we have the monotonous"Fallinlove2nite", the horrible rendition of a previously great song withPrince is one of, if not my favorite artist all-time. Outside of that we have the monotonous"Fallinlove2nite", the horrible rendition of a previously great song with "This Could B Us", and horrendous vocalizations on "Shut This Down". I'm glad that the second phase is so much better, because this is one of Prince's very worst albums. Expand

Phase One impresses more on first listen [than Phase Two].... But it wears thin quickly. [Feb 2016, p.54]

Mashup of overused modern dancefloor styles and rote bragging, with odd moment of classic purple peculiarity. [Dec 2015, p.94]

Even when HitNRun improves, it implies creative drought. [Nov 2015, p.102]
