    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lyrically, Fine Line is incredibly honest. He doesn't bother to get overly poetic — and he doesn't need to. On "Cherry," he leads with his vocals in a raw expression of desperately missing an ex lover who seems to have found another. "To Be So Lonely" encapsulates the sense of acceptance you feel after a heart-shattering breakup, even calling out his own flaws and errors. Album closer "Fine Line" is the perfect way to end his tale of woe and horniness. It's happy and sad, romantic, full of disdain and beautiful all the same. Fine Line is proof that Harry Styles has grown as an artist since his solo debut. He hasn't reached his full potential, but he's certainly well on his way. (Columbia)… Expand

Harry Styles has always been the odd one out of my playlist, as everything else I listen to is much... harder? I've always appreciated this guy's influence of old classic rock and his enigmatic pretense both in real life and in interviews. Harry has such an intelligent, mature soul (I honestly get the vibe that there's something more to him but I'm gonna keep that to myself). OK, this isn't a review on Harry himself, but the album Fine Line. Let me start out by saying this; it was okay. It wasn't trash, it wasn't mediocre, it wasn't bland, but it wasn't... excellent. it's definitely a 7.5 for me. Only 2 songs had me really genuinely embraced in the music, and only 3 could manage to suck me in. It seemed like, while the others held significance they just simply lacked depth, like everything that wanted to be said was stated directly.

    'She' was a knockout for me, probably one of the best songs of 2019. The guitar was IMMACULATE the channeling of 70s-80s rock with the vocals on the chorus sent shivers down my spine, and did I mention the guitar? The song pulls you in and doesn't let you go. You feel high while the guitar solo plays. Honestly, give me an album of just Mitch playing that guitar and I'll buy it, I swear. 'Fine Line' (the song) was probably second best for me. While people say that the constant repetition of the title is annoying, I just get more and more emotion from it every time its sang. Anxiety and tension build until it's released with the smashing of drums. Truly a wonderful closing song! Other notable good songs were 'Golden', 'Lights Up', 'Adore You', and 'To Be So Lonely'. Sunflower gets an honorable mention.

    Now, what this album lacked that his first album did so well: the 'Kiwi' moment. There was no jump up, scream the lyrics at the top of your lungs and thrash moment on Fine Line and it was... disappointing to say the least. The hyping up of 'Watermelon Sugar' to be the next Kiwi led to an underwhelming reveal. I don't like that song at all, I'm sorry. I refuse to even compare it to my darling 'Kiwi'. Harry Styles, if you're out there, just know that I am still so upset that Medicine had a chance and yet you put in Watermelon Sugar. Medicine would have been the second best song on the album (yes, 'She' is better than 'Medicine', i admit that) and it would have been the kiwi moment we deserve. Please Harry, I beg. It doesn't even have to be on an album just please release Medicine.

    All rants about Songs aside, this is a fun album, and easily one of the best releases of 2019. If you compare this album to the other ones released this year... yeah it's probably like number three or something. But in the general history of music, and of Harry Styles, it really isn't too high...

    I think that in this album harry styles reinvented his own sound becoming very original and psychedelic. The lyrics are very metaphorical and poetic, especially in the last track, making you think about the true meaning of the song

    This album is REALLY very different from the first one, "Harry Styles". This still remind me the 80s songs, but not rockish. The first single "Lights Up" really caught me to be honest because i was imagining a new rock album style. For me, the first album is really more catchy and better at all, but i feel that Harry Styles is evolving in music.

    Harry Styles releases his best material to date. The composition surprises us and even having long tracks has its totally unique fluids, strong tracks and tracks that makes you unique as an artist. His chilling voice mixed with captivating gains carry the design in an amazing, beautiful and simple way. A strong bet for the 2021 Grammys.

    Soulful and creative, a masterpiece. Amazing production, good storyline that ties one song to the other, good tracklist disposition. Harry’s voice is unique and is used in different ways to compliment different moments in the music. Last track Fine Line is a movie-like outro that really deserves so much.

    A truly powerful piece of art. A beautiful mix of ballads, pop, and psychedelic songs, all with so much emotion behind each lyric. From the opening chord to the closing chord, I was so enraptured with his songs, accompanied by his angelic and versatile voice and incredible instrumentals. Perfection.

    Being completely honest, it took me some listens until I could get totally into it unlike his first album as I'm more of a rocker myself :D There is different styles (mind me the pun) of music but he and his crew made it work really well. Fine Line is (as you can hear) heavily inspired by creative geniuses like: David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac etc. Every song has that something that makes it interesting and fun to listen to. But it's not Harry Styles, and he is not yet on the creative level as those other artist where they found what fits them. Harry still plays around a bit too much with the sounds of other artists (heavily inspired). He hasn't really found what fits him, yet. And even though both of his albums are good and fun to listen to, I had hoped he had found a bit of his own style/lane a bit more on this album. In the end it is still a good album, but we all know he can do better! And make his OWN music.… Expand

    All of the songs are genuinely amazing, but there are a few that are questionable for some people. Everyone's taste is different, but i do recommend it if you haven't taken a listen. It is an emotional rollercoaster if you look into the lyrics but genuinely an awesome album.

    He found himself on this album, the record is very sincere about his feelings. you really get lost in happiness and sadness at the same time along the tracks.

    God, I'm so surprised by how an artist can write such a masterpiece. I honestly know for a fact this is the album I've heard in my whole life so far. I felt so many things and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. I think this album is very underrated because the only song you hear in the radio is Adore You.     Golden: 7.5/10. The lyrics aren't deep or meaningful and it repeats the word Golden probably more than necessary but the song has good vibes and rhythm.

    Watermelon Sugar: 6.5/10. For some reason I have a lot of mixed feelings on this song. It's a good song to be honest but I find it annoying somehow. However if I heard it in the radio I'd bop to it and all. Again, the lyrics aren't meaningful but good rhythm and sound overall.

    Adore You: 8.5/10. I was obsessed with this song and it was my favorite for a long time. Of all the album this is the only radio song for a good reason. Good simple lyrics and a nice calm sound to it.

    Lights Up: 9.5/10. This is one of my favorite songs of the album. It was the first to come out but it didn't do very good. Why? The rhythm and sound isn't very attractive but I strongly enjoyed the song for reasons hard to explain. It's a mysterious song but I enjoy it very much.

    Cherry: 7/10. The song is 4 minutes but the lyrics are actually short. The song is about missing someone in a way and how you are a little jealous to see them with someone else, I like the passive way Harry described this feeling.

    Falling: 11/10. I've said this before with Lights Up but this song is superior. This is one of my favorite two songs in the album. I think this song is by far the most meaningful. So many emotions. I cry almost every time I hear it. The music video? Masterpiece. Lyrics? Masterpiece. No words can describe how perfect this song is, it should've been the hit of the album.

    To Be So Lonely: 6.5/10. Didn't love the song, rhythm or lyrics. It's not bad just not my type, not very meaningful. I think it's my least favorite song in the album but still pretty good.

    She: 10.5/10. This song is so mysterious, I just love it. Who is Harry talking about? A girl? A dream? His feminine side? Who knows? I love it.

    Sunflower: 9.5/10. This song makes me want to dance so much. The lyrics may not be very deep but I enjoy it either way, pretty good rhythm. It's a sweet song and it makes me happy. My favorite lyric happens to be "I don't want to make you feel bad but I've been trying hard not to talk to you". There's a few other lyrics beside this one I really like.

    Canyon Moon: 6.5/10. Not a fan of the song. Not bad, just boring to me. I feel the same about it as I feel about 'To Be So Lonely'.

    Treat People With Kindness: 9/10. I like the meaning of the song and it has a very attractive rhythm and sound, it makes you wanna dance and spread love.

    Fine Line: ?/10. I don't like it. I know true fans really do but not only is it the longest song in the album but it barely even has lyrics?!    … Expand
