This album is such a masterpiece. You can feel all of the feelings that Harry felt and still get connected with every single song in your own particular way. Definitely album of the year, pure art.

While his debut self-titled LP was a pleasing collection of beautiful odes to soft rock and britpop, Harry Styles' second effort sounds like its altered, upgraded, better-crafted, grown sister. "Fine Line" is so well arranged, ranging in style and in sounds, but still being so aesthetically cohesive. It kinda, sorta, tells a story, not a new one, from being in love ('Golden', 'Adore You')While his debut self-titled LP was a pleasing collection of beautiful odes to soft rock and britpop, Harry Styles' second effort sounds like its altered, upgraded, better-crafted, grown sister. "Fine Line" is so well arranged, ranging in style and in sounds, but still being so aesthetically cohesive. It kinda, sorta, tells a story, not a new one, from being in love ('Golden', 'Adore You') to being heartbroken ('Cherry', 'Falling'), to the getting over ('Sunflower, Vol. 6', 'Canyon Moon') and peace-finding ('Fine Line'), but it sure tells it with great music playing in the background.

The whole project exudes personal energy, like really confessional lyrics ('Falling' is literally an entry from Styles' diary) or just real-life recordings (Camille Rowe's voice as the ending of 'Cherry' is such a moving addition to the already beautiful track). Another impressive thing is the variation in sounds and styles, going from rock on 'She', to ukulele-based alternative on 'To Be So Lonely', to Vampire Weekend-esque indie sounds on 'Sunflower'. It all plays out so well, coming to the beautiful closer, which happens to be the title track, on which Styles asserts repeatedly "We'll be alright", such a basic, but exquisite-in-its-hope line.

Both aesthetically and musically pleasing, "Fine Line" is a step (or a leap) in the right direction for Harry Styles' career.

It's amazing Harry's artistic revolution on this new album, the lyrics, the way he sings, it all got together and very good to hear. Surely this is one of the best album coming out this year.

Harry Styles proves he is the bold singer from the former boy band, One Direction. His self titled debut album was something great, he has grown even more as a singer and songwriter. The songwriting is some of the best of the year and a few song are honestly some of the best songs of 2019. Some slight electric dance sounds mixed with rock influenced production. From the opening song, “Cherry” to the closing track, “Fine Line”, there are no weak moments on the album. Even “Treat People With Kindness” is a really strong track even though it’s probably the weakest song on the entire album. There is zero filler anywhere. Not one moment of boredom. Harry’s vocals have got gotten more versatile and interesting. His gorgeous voice mixed with his catchy hooks keep carrying the project over and over. There is no question that this is his best album. A strongly incredible and beautiful album. The absolute best male pop record of 2019 that deserves many awards when it becomes eligible in 2021. A strong 10. Expand

Amazing album from start to finish! So much growth from the last album (and that one was pretty amazing too!) and the vocals show good range. The musicians that played on this album...just incredible. The track Falling had me in tears and I'm not usually a cryer. Best album of 2019 by far!

A really surprising evolution compared to the debut album. You can hear he went experimental on the production yet achieving something really great. I got goose bumps throughout the entire album.

in my opinion, harry style's selftitle is better but we can see the evolution of harry in this album, he is so much more mature and confident for sure! The best track for me it is to be so lonely(remids me of from the dining table for some reason and it is by far my favorite song from harry) *sorry for my bad english, I am not a native*

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This album was perfect!!! It’s so wonderful to see Harry progressing not only as an artist and performer, but as a lyricist and person. He really hits the nail on the head with Fine Line. His singles, Watermelon Sugar, Lights Up, and Adore You were absolutely immaculate and they really showed me how awesome this album was going to be. She and Golden are on repeat as I type this!! I’m so incredibly proud of Harry and I look forward to seeing him in concert next summer! Expand

Free of the shackles that hobbled his debut, Styles manages to show more of his personality here, especially on the Vampire Weekend-style Sunflower, Vol. 6. It's just a shame he can't quite keep up with his ambition. [Feb 2020, p.110]

Fine Line is entirely inoffensive, but it’s also open-ended, and maybe those questions are the reward. Maybe Harry Styles just wants to keep us guessing.

Fine Line proves that the musician has absorbed the best lesson passed down by California’s great musicians: Don’t be afraid to take chances within a folk- or pop-rock framework, as that’s how you create iconoclastic music that endures.
