Every Feeling On a Loop finds Johnson offering up a series of confessional songs, all enhanced with the tones, textures and sumptuous arrangements that had been a touchstone of The Head and the Heart’s articulate tableau since the very beginning.

The musical world is much better off for Johnson’s journey back from the brink and the delivery of Every Feeling On a Loop. He shows us that grasping on to the imperceptible curve of one’s little plot of land is not just cold comfort, but a cause for daily celebration.

At its best, this debut is a joyful testament to coming out the other side of trauma, though at times, some of the arrangements rely a little too heavily on repetition, taking the album's title quite literally. Still, it's nice to hear Johnson step out on his own and deliver a meaningful set of songs.

Much like The Head And The Heart, it's all mid-paced, with subject matter also inevitably static. [Oct 2020, p.32]

The odd sappy lyric is mediated by a resonant Jim James-ish baritone. [Oct 2020, p.94]
