Mar 10, 2023Cyrus was and presumably still is a weed girl — and “Endless Summer Vacation” mixes the kind of peaceful, easy feeling you associate with that sensibility with some very pure pop instincts. It’s not the kind of album you want to oversell; more definitive statements or craftier strings of singles may lie in her future. For now, though, it’s nice to see her succeeding more by sweating less.
-
Mar 29, 2023Her singing is vivid enough on “Endless Summer Vacation” to make up for some mushy songwriting here and there.
-
Mar 17, 2023Cyrus will probably never settle on just one or two sounds to express herself, but her voice and vision are strong enough on Endless Summer Vacation to suggest she'll never need to.
-
Mar 13, 2023Cyrus excels most when she’s employing her voice to super-sell big ballads, and Endless Summer Vacation is no exception.
-
Mar 13, 2023The album is not only precisely what Cyrus’ discography and identity needed but perhaps what we as a culture need now.
-
Mar 10, 2023Eighth studio album ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ emerges as a clear indication of someone who’s finally figured out who they are, resulting in a bold pop record oozing with the confidence and style that results from a period of self-discovery.
-
Mar 10, 2023Indeed, for all the slick but formulaic pleasures of the album’s mainstream pop push, it is arguably that Cyrus is at her most compelling when she dances like no one is watching.
-
Mar 10, 2023A lovely long bask in Cyrus’s maturing talent.
-
Mar 10, 2023This release feels like she is fully embodying her own skin – this is a release that aims for timelessness in its own right, allowing the true, unfiltered Miley Cyrus to step into the sunlight.
-
Mar 10, 2023It all adds up to an album that holds your full attention even if it isn’t Cyrus’s boldest or most visionary. ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ certainly feels like an accurate reflection of who she is as an artist – and a person – in 2023.
-
Mar 10, 2023There’s a naturalness and a flow in evidence, and charm, too. You can’t imagine anyone who rushed to the download sites was disappointed with what they found.
-
Mar 10, 2023The current of honesty that runs through Endless Summer Vacation encourages the listener to press play on the record again, and the stories here get even better on a second or third listen. It’s cohesive without feeling repetitive.
-
Mar 13, 2023Although there’s some filler on Endless Summer Vacation – Wildcard and the rather flat closing piano ballad Wonder Woman fall into this category – it probably ends up as her most consistent album to date. This is one former teen idol who’s negotiating the path to a more adult audience just fine.
-
Mar 14, 2023Not the sundazed party record that was promised but an exploration of how it feels when the party’s over.
-
Mar 13, 2023The lyrical clichés that occupy much of Endless Summer Vacation do little to scratch away at the album’s blithe veneer, though at the very least they deliver on its promise of fun.
-
Mar 10, 2023Don’t get me wrong, Endless Summer Vacation is a good album with each track deserving of a listen, but in the same breath, the majority of them aren’t worthy of a replay either.
