Once again NME is full of *beep*. "THe most important album you could own". Their motto should be "Mediocrety or Death". This album is just another of the massive crop of mediocre, bland, samey albums that have been released since The Strokes. The music (again), simple chords being strung, with the occasional riff. No different than other "garage" or "indie" bands (Arctics, View etc.), Once again NME is full of *beep*. "THe most important album you could own". Their motto should be "Mediocrety or Death". This album is just another of the massive crop of mediocre, bland, samey albums that have been released since The Strokes. The music (again), simple chords being strung, with the occasional riff. No different than other "garage" or "indie" bands (Arctics, View etc.), who seem unable to conjure up any new musical ideas. Just the same thing we've been hearing for the last 6 years. Saying all that, it isn't exactly awful, just really bland, generic and mediocre, which seems to be what brings success these days, unfortunately. Expand

This is an ok record. On first listen it sounds great but you get tired of it pretty quickly. There are definitely some good tracks on it but too much of it is recycled indie music by numbers.

I gotta agree with billboard and the other 60 on this one. This is not really a grower. Too sugary, get's old after repeated listens... Still better than alot of stuff out there (I'd rate most on this site at 1-4)

Although many songs die down with repeat listens, it's one of the few albums I can sit down and listen to all the way through. Each song on this album is fantastic. The entire thing is energetic, catchy, and will be sure to have you singing along. It's almost too much to handle in one sitting.

Their punchy choruses and propulsive garage riffs are as addictive as those of 2006 sensations Arctic Monkeys. [16 Mar 2007, p.69]

The record comes on like a sweaty, amphetamine-fuelled rehearsal room bash that went extraordinarily well. [Oct 2006, p.102]
  3. The numbers which populate Costello Music are a darn sight better than Carl Barat and Pete Doherty's solo exploits.
