The best Jeezy music often exploited how far he could go with memorable ad libs and punchlines, a triumphant kind of simplicity. Here that gets muted to muddied results.

A heavy knock on Church in These Streets lies in its length; at 19 tracks, a few of the hustle-hard anthems, i.e. the lackluster “Hustlaz Holiday” would have better been served for the cutting room floor. And while most of Jeezy’s signature trap sound is enjoyable, the alarm sounds of “God,” are a jolting earsore. Fortunately, moments like this are the exception.

Despite coming in at 19 tracks, the album lacks a searing song like Politically Correct, which Jeezy released free during his involvement in the recent Million Man March. He's come a long way, but we may have to wait until the next term to see his full political potential.

After so many albums, I can only listen to Jeezy in small doses as his voice (although unique) is nauseating. Listen to his whole album at oneAfter so many albums, I can only listen to Jeezy in small doses as his voice (although unique) is nauseating. Listen to his whole album at one time...I can't. I won't. None the less, the title track is a banger. He keeps up with the times by mimicking what others are doing-in terms of content and beats/production. Which is a bit disappointing. Outside the title track I cant remember another song at the moment and perhaps that says more than I have already written. Full Review »
