  1. Spider might not make you forget "Welcome to My Nightmare," but it's nevertheless a cheerfully twisted yarn delivered with a full-on dose of guitar rockers, the requisite ballad, a soaring anthem, a bit of Beck-flavored groovery, some sly humor and nods to Cooper's glam rock past.

Alice delivers his best album in decades. [Oct 2008, p.83]
  3. His gloomy tales are not silly, but neither are they especially threatening, despite Cooper's mildly fetishistic focus on the predatory instincts of a character who spends most of his time wallowing in self-assessments.
  4. An easy recommendation for fan club members and/or serial killers. Everyone else has two or three better Cooper concepts to devour first.
  5. songs, like I'm Hungry, are laudably silly, others simply bland, but with a little help from Ozzy Osbourne and Slash, who adds glitzy embellishments to the heavy, anthemic Vengeance Is Mine, Cooper's back on par.
  6. Mojo

Alice still makes Marilyn Manson sound like Mickey Mouse. {Sep 2008, p.112]

Not as good as the early seventies Killer or School's Out but every time I listen to it, I like it more and more.
