The group’s power has always come from its Spice Girls-like ability to form a massive unit of self-actualization, and the peppy 7/27 has no shortage of that, both lyrically and musically.

The sassy girl-power proclamations and gleefully unsubtle double-entendres that elevated the group’s 2015 debut, Reflection, are largely pushed aside for mid-tempos about romance and intimacy. Deep, vulnerable, personal--these were some of the quintet’s stated goals for 7/27. It’s not a bad look by any means.

Ultimately, while 7/27 isn't quite as loose or as fun as one might hope, Fifth Harmony prove they can balance youthful swagger with grown-up sophistication.

7/27 mostly rises to the occasion.

Finally, albeit in flashes, there are hints that Fifth Harmony may reach that peak.

The second Fifth Harmony LP isn't a massive step forward, but with a constant bombardment of hooks, high energy and incredible harmony there's not much time to catch your breath to compare.

Fifth Harmony’s talents do get their shine in spots of this front-loaded hodgepodge.

Destaques: All In My Head (Flex) que tendo Dinah e Lauren como vocais principais trouxe um amadurecimento bastante notório para a faixa; No Way com Lauren comandando os vocais foi genial, seus vocais mais "obscuros" trouxeram um intimismo sem tamanho para a música; Gonna Get Better demonstrou toda a potência vocal e a emoção que a voz de Ally pode ter e transmitir e I Lied que houve uma sincronia harmônica dos vocais incrivelmente surpreendedora. An older, matured Fifth Harmony were much more involved in the process of this record, We’re HERE for this confident, sassy anthem that encourages women to support and praise one another just like That's my Girl is. The catchy, fun nature of the album is impossible to ignore. Expand
