Much of it is pretty dispensable, with new songs Smiley and Acid Horse generic and lacklustre, offering little of the gift for transcendent melody twined around tough beats that made Orbital so iconic. Fortunately, the tour-ready updates of Chime, Impact (The Earth Is Burning) and Halcyon + On + On are much more engaging, and a trippy, strung-out Belfast rivals the original for quality.

Quite the outing here, The boys have worked wonders with Halcyon, Impact, Belfast and Satan, reverent but daring to be sure. The Box is theQuite the outing here, The boys have worked wonders with Halcyon, Impact, Belfast and Satan, reverent but daring to be sure. The Box is the Box, not a hell of a lot can be done with a track so tied to its riff… Remix wise David Holmes, Jon Hopkins, Lone and ANNA stand out (through her techno remix kept making me think of mashing up Belfast and Born Slippy), and Octave One’s remix of Chime is particularly good! Smiley put a grin on my face and the breaks n vocals are top tier old skool rave for a new generation that sadly don’t remember the days before the Criminal “Justice” Bill. For returning fans, don’t expect completely reconstructed tracks from Orbital, this is tweaking and borrowing from live sessions and it’s stronger for it. Worth every penny Full Review »
