Whether dangling characters off the edge of a cliff or zooming around Crusoe’s rickety wooden waterslide, the story is constantly on the go, launching objects and characters along the Z axis — and out over the audiences’ heads.
The Wild Life is a family-friendly take on the story of Crusoe, with a twist, and kids no doubt will be drawn to the colorful animal characters, but there's a lack of emotional connection that makes the film just another cartoon flick, not a special favorite or animated classic.

Enjoyable but not memorable. The characters were great, and were funny. They also had a good story. They even had a very sad part. The reason the score is lower is because the dialogue was terrible. It is worth a watch.

Family animation. Ship-wreck survivor encounters talking animals. Entertaining for children, but this old fogey found the plot a little too thin to bother with again.

Felines, too often maligned as conniving and sly, get no love in The Wild Life, a tale that's inspired by Robinson Crusoe and perpetuates dangerous kitty stereotypes. And that's the best part of the movie.
It’s dreadfully boring to anyone over the age of 4, but at least it isn’t trying to sell kids anything. I guess that’s a plus.
A few minutes of excitement can’t compensate for an hour and a half of unimaginative storytelling and dull characters.
So dull, the kids in my audience didn’t laugh until 45 minutes in — And that was at a coconut head-bonk, a gag so timeless it almost doesn’t count.
Nothing feels remotely fresh, let alone savage or zany in The Wild Life. It’s a dull, uninspired and frantically tedious animated re-telling of the Robinson Crusoe story, complete with a menagerie of ditzy, caterwauling beasts.
This is easily one of the worst animated movies for 2016. It's so boring and predictable that even the small kids don't enjoyed it at all. At least the graffics are kinda good.

Out of all the animated movies I seen in my life, this is probably the most boring. The story, if you can call it that, is painfully bland and generic, the animation is mediocre, the characters are all one dimensional, and absolutely NOTHING worth mentioning happened. In fact, this is not only the most boring animated films I've ever seen, it's also one of the most forgettable. When I first saw it, I left remembering nothing about it. The only things I remembered was going to the restroom and taking a 10-minute nap. Taking a nap in a theater would just sound stupid, I know, but it doesn't matter when you're the only one in there. The only thing you need to know about this is that it's a complete waste of your precious time.

From the studio still reeling from its distribution of Norm of the North in January, comes a better animated, but still poisonous, hour-and-a-half-long kids movie that still suffers from pandering, lack of any good characters, typical and now unfunny kids movie humor, and narration so prevalent that you wonder if anyone from this studio knows how to tell a cinematic story.
Honestly though, I found this movie less obnoxious than Ice Age 5, which is why I'd rather watch this movie instead, but that's difficult for me to say because this movie is still an utter disaster. The plot is all very generic; from minute 1, it's obvious where the plot is headed toward: an iceberg! This whole movie, in fact, feels like a poorly constructed titanic that's careening into an iceberg because the driver though he saw a lighthouse in that same direction.
Just save your money for Kubo and the Two Strings, because The Wild Life deserves a seal of disavowal.
