    A haunting, life ruining album.

The first half is profoundly depressing, but there is a hint of brightness found in A Lamb in the Land of Payday Loans. Pissing Stars is a deeply emotional and powerful album that addresses issues of global warming, politics, and war. This is a long and a hard album to listen through, but making yourself available to it is a worthwhile experience. It is

Pissing Stars sees his songwriting separate more fully from the motherships of Silver Mt Zion and GY!BE, skirting new fringes only a solo artist could reach. [Mar 2018, p.52]

Pissing Stars feels purposefully small, a personal retreat from full-band compromise by someone who is trying to understand the world and his role in it. The result is indulgent, neurotic, and harrowing, a reminder of the complete mess we’ve made. But it’s oddly reassuring, too.

The songs are, like Hart and Khashoggi’s union, strange and vulgar; they’re ugly, morbid, and not quite destructive but don't offer hope to those looking for it.
