SummaryIf the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion, you'd have to assume that things couldn't get much worse. In Martin's case, that was only the beginning.

Tipping its hat to "The Evil Dead" and Peter Jackson’s early gore flicks, Dead Snow 2 is a 90-minute symphony of skull-splitting sight gags, each one more revolting than the last.
As bad-taste splatter comedies go, "Dead Snow 2" is one of the more charitably nutty ones, less about gorging on gore than reveling in how silly the whole genre can be.
I was really shocked to see the relatively low reviews for this movie. It is seriously hilarious piece of tongue-in-cheek zombie splatter, which does everything it aims to achieve with brilliance. Come on, who cannot enjoy Soviet and **** zombie armies go at each other with melee weapons!
Bottom line, if you do not like this movie, there is something seriously wrong with you.
To be honest, I haven't seen the first movie. But boy was, Dead Snow: Red VS Dead a good time. Norwegian Director- Tommy Wirkola, who brought us the kickass, Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, directs this crazy gory comedy movie about ****, stolen gold and a cursed arm. I only knew that Wirkola was directing and it is a gory **** zombie comedy. This movie was balls out HILARIOUS, I enjoyed every second of it. It is NOT a horror movie, it is a comic, dark, gory film. The story consists of Martin, who has been through hell at a cabin holiday infested with **** zombies trying to retrive their gold that he and his friends found. The flashback will explain everything, so no need to watch the original. His story continues as he finds that there was still one more gold piece left to give back, and the zombies are trying to find it and him. He escapes and throws the coin out of his car window. What follows is the zombies hell bent on killing mankind to bulid their army. The film is EXTREMELY gory and bloody. Entrails, eyes and scalping is shown in full detail. Do not watch this after lunch. The violence can be compared to Saving Private Ryan, but gorier. This is a brilliant movie, with the actors doing good in their roles. The violence may put some people off, but it is realistic. The story is cheesy and fun. There is a lesson for history nerds as well! Underneath the gore and violence , you will find a movie that puts a smile on your face, one that doesnt leave even after the credits. If that is not enough, Gunter's Tralala is played in the movie. Very Norwegian, Mr. Wirkola. It is available on VOD, Netflix and DVD. Afilm, that I am loooking forward to watching again.
If the movie’s hilariously cruel treatment of the halt and the lame upsets you, you can enjoy the crisp cinematography, operatically repulsive effects and frequently witty dialogue.
The film is playful throughout... Unfortunately, the shoddy treatment of the film's sole LGBT character and a tendency to use people in wheelchairs as punchlines mar this otherwise delightful gruesome confection.
The makeup is really all there is to look at—visually speaking, the film is aggressively uninteresting. But beyond all Dead Snow 2’s flaws, it’s important not to lose sight of the fact that it has undead soldiers in Soviet and Nazi uniforms straight-up swinging pickaxes at each other.
By formally acknowledging the material's inherent silliness ad nauseam, the filmmakers have distanced themselves from the spirit of the parody, robbing it of its gruesome pleasures.
The second installment of most franchises usually fails. This one did not. The story was pretty good and like the first film had me laughing throughout the movie. Although the acting wasn't quite Oscar quality, it was still pretty good overall. The zombies looked really cool and scary and the killing scenes were also well done and pretty creative at times. I personally liked the story and found the movie was very entertaining. Maybe not as good as the first film, but worth seeing if you liked the original or if you are a zombie movie fan.
A bit absurd at times but it is meant to be zombie movie comedy so yeah it is meant to be funny. All in all an ok movie, nothing too impressive though.
Sometimes a movie is so absurdly fun, it can get away with almost anything, Dead Snow 2 is almost that kind of movie. The premise is ridiculous, it involves an army of **** zombies running amok in Norway. Focus of this movie hinges entirely of how fun the gore can be, and to its credit, with tongue-in-cheek script it's pretty enjoyable. However, there are a few segments that diminish the amusement, most notably the contrast on dark scenes.
Martin had a bad experience, he's awakened **** zombies by taking their gold on a snowy mountain. After losing his friends and lover, he manages to escape and finds refuge. Little did he know that the **** zombies have a knack to invade people. The acting isn't superior, but the actors do well on producing more comical effect. Characters are few and they are introduced with over-the-top personality quite effectively.
The movie knows the genre and its demography well, producing more mayhem and a dash more imagination than most zombie movies. It has good sense of humor, rather dark and a bit desensitizing, although strangely fitting for the concept. It doesn't possesses elegance not does it try to, there's barely any five minutes where blood isn't displayed gloriously.
The carnage is made with practical effects, they look convincingly brutal and will please the fans of the genre. Make-up and costume department did their job well as the zombies do look unique. As far as the deaths go, Dead Snow 2 has a few creative ones. Unfortunately, there's a bit of inconsistency in plot where the characters pop-up, survive miraculously or act in very stupid manner. Admittedly, they are minor things since the movie already suspends the viewer disbelief.
Its main setback is it’s uncomfortably dark when it doesn't need to be. The cinematography is good at outdoor as well as in daylight, however it becomes too blurry at night scenes or those in relatively dark area, which a good portion of the movie occurs at. This inevitably dulls the experience.
Dead Snow 2 confidently boasts exaggerated theme with mortifying amount of blood and self-aware humor, and despite having a few faults, it will most likely entertain fans of horror genre.
Zombie **** fighting living dead Commies. How can you go wrong? DEAD SNOW 2: RED VS. DEAD is totally forgettable but actually quite funny. Great gore and a totally winning cast!
