We are clear that Terminator: Resistance does not come to compete with the great first-person shooter, but to demonstrate the possibilities offered by a title based on the universe of John Connor. Fans of the saga already have a title with which to face Skynet.
Terminator: Resistance is reminiscent of the days when tie-in games were released with practically every action movie. It's playable, but it's forgettable. It's fun to get your chance to shoot Terminators in the face and see John Connor being John Connor (instead of the mess he became in the various sequels), but beyond that, there's not much to recommend it. If you're a die-hard Terminator fan who is eager for a chance to visit the future of the original movies, then it might be worth a go. It's difficult to recommend for anyone else, though.
This game is a love letter to fans of the franchise. It's the third Terminator film people wanted all along and brings the story full circle in a masterful way. My only complaint is that it's too short, but it's a hell of a ride. The best review/video to watch is the one from Civvie 11.
We get fun combat, surprisingly decent graphics even with the lower budget which is fine because graphics DO NOT make a good game. Something I believe the game critics have forgotten all about these days...
We got lots of customization, gun upgrades, fan service weaponry, good crafting, exploration, small RPG dialog sequences that allow you to interact with characters in both small and large ways. We got sex scenes as well which took me completely by surprise because I had no idea how deep they'd go with their story aspect.
Again, this game just came out of nowhere and I ended up feeling like I was playing a Metro in the Terminator universe. Its so freaking great. The voice acting is quite good, map design is very open and you can go about handling enemies in a variety of ways that all work well and aren't feeling generic.
Terminator Resistance is a B game as they are hardly ever made these days. Many of the ambitious ideas are nowhere to be seen, but despite that the game is just perfectly playable and entertaining.
It resembles more of a remaster of a last-generation videogame than a current-gen title. The story can be cool towards the end for Terminator fans as you see how the first two movies began, but it's not worth the boring gameplay, mediocre visuals, and uninteresting characters.
Unlike Rambo: The Video Game, Terminator Resistance does not have this thing more (or less) adding a nice aspect to its nullity. Here, production value has grown, Treyon offering this time a title first thought for those wanting to fall asleep in less than two or designed for time travelers, the title edited by Reef Entertainment seems not only zapped movies after T2 but the evolution of FPS and video game for fifteen years. Nevertheless, by drawing all the same here and there in the ideas to success of the kind, it is a beautiful base of student project which is offered to those eager to hurt themselves.
A "Fallout"-lite action/RPG with a Terminator skin on. The game is far from perfect, but should please fans of the franchise. It has the feel of "Star Wars: Rogue One". You'll go on missions for the rebellion using hacking and pick locking skills as well as firearms. A big downer is the enemy A.I. as it is quite weak. Still, if you want a game that has a love for the James Cameron films, look no further. I would rate this with a 7.5 out of 10.
A little rough around the edges, but an absolute must play for fans of the Terminator franchise. The aesthetics, the atmosphere, the music, the sound effects, everything pays true homage and respect to the original two movies. They even made an excellent effort going deeper into the lore of Terminator, which was very impressive. You can tell that while the developers were working on an AA budget, they first and foremost wanted to be loyal to the franchise - something we haven’t truly seen since arguably 1991 when Terminator 2 came out. I think they used a lot of the original licensed music as well, and those 1980’s synthesizers really make the tone of the game feel so true to the original two movies.
The game itself is good. It blends a lot of different ideas together, and while none of them really shine in any way, they are all fine. Regarding the gameplay alone, this game feels like it’s a very well polished game from the Xbox 360 era. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing, but it just had a slightly dated glaze to the way it plays. It feels like Fallout 3 without the VATS system. There are some semi-open areas, there are some more narrow missions, there are some fairly intense cat and mouse missions similar to how Alien Isolation plays. It’s not quite a shooter, it’s not quite an RPG, it’s not quite a horror, but it’s very solid and enjoyable. It does feel a little janky at times due to the budget - some graphical glitches, some design glitches, some super rigid animations, the writing is sometimes pretty awkward, the voice acting is not top shelf, but everything I mentioned in the first paragraph makes up for it all.
To be fair, my view of this game may be slightly biased because I am a huge fan of the franchise. This is a true love letter to the franchise, loaded with easter eggs and references, but the core gameplay and presentation is a bit janky. Still a great effort and enjoyable game. Also while the Infiltrator Mode is far from perfect, it’s actually really fun being able to play as the bad guy. Truthfully it’s closer to a 6/10, but being biased and a huge fan of the franchise, their respect for the first two movies made me knock it in a point.
I didn't believe it before. Why is this so poorly rated?
Now I know why. I only paid 20€ and that doesn't hurt so much. But after 2 hours it's just no more fun.
That's because of the creep. It makes zero sense for some opponents because you have overpowering weapons.
Only the terminators are very annoying and even on light too heavy for me. If you had more ammunition, it would all be easier.
The graphics are old-fashioned and the environment is always the same.
I know that there was little budget, but then to deliver something like that is already poor.
