I really enjoyed inFamous First Light on a number of levels, and if I had to compare it to The Last of Us’ Left Behind expansion, I would give the edge to First Light just for its additional challenges and replayability.
Full stop, inFamous: First Light is more Second Son, which is a good thing. Although I wasn't nearly as invested in Fetch as I was with Delsin's story, this is a great way for fans to return to the super-powered world of Seattle, and an even better way for newcomers to get a taste of the series.
Title: A Luminescent Leap Forward: Infamous First Light Review
Infamous First Light, a standalone expansion to the critically acclaimed Infamous Second Son, shines brightly as a beacon of excellence on the PlayStation 4. Developed by **** Punch Productions, First Light proves to be more than just an add-on; it's a compact, focused adventure that not only enhances the Infamous universe but also stands out as a singular achievement in storytelling, gameplay, and visual splendor.
Set in the neon-lit streets of Seattle, Infamous First Light tells the poignant story of Fetch, a conduit with the power to manipulate neon. This narrative focus on Fetch—a character introduced in Second Son—allows for a deeper exploration of her backstory, motivations, and growth. Fetch's journey from a troubled runaway to a powerful conduit is both compelling and emotionally resonant, driven by stellar voice acting and a narrative that skillfully balances moments of vulnerability and strength.
Visually, First Light is a marvel. The game utilizes the PlayStation 4's hardware to deliver stunning graphics, with particular attention paid to the vibrant neon powers that are central to gameplay. The way neon lights up the night sky, reflects off wet streets, and blurs past as Fetch dashes through the city is nothing short of breathtaking. The attention to detail in the environment, from the rain-soaked streets of Seattle to the eerie, atmospheric setting of Curdun Cay, adds layers of depth and immersion to the experience.
Gameplay in Infamous First Light is both exhilarating and refined. Fetch's neon powers provide a unique and thrilling way to navigate the world and engage in combat. The game introduces new abilities and upgrades that expand on the mechanics of Second Son, offering players more flexibility and creativity in how they approach challenges. The combat is fast-paced and fluid, with a satisfying mix of speed, strategy, and spectacle. Additionally, the game includes a series of challenge arenas where players can test their skills and powers against waves of enemies, adding significant replay value.
One of First Light's most commendable aspects is its accessibility and focus. The game distills the essence of the Infamous experience into a tighter narrative and gameplay loop, without sacrificing depth or enjoyment. This focus allows for a more polished and impactful experience, ensuring that every moment in the game feels meaningful and engaging.
The sound design and musical score in Infamous First Light further elevate the game. The soundtrack perfectly complements the emotional beats of the story and the kinetic energy of the gameplay. The environmental sounds and character voice work are top-notch, contributing to the overall immersion and believability of the world.
In conclusion, Infamous First Light is a brilliant addition to the Infamous series and a standout title on the PlayStation 4. It delivers a powerful, focused story, breathtaking visuals, and thrilling gameplay, all centered around one of the series' most intriguing characters. With its compelling narrative, stunning presentation, and dynamic combat, First Light is not just an expansion but a shining example of how to do DLC right. It's a must-play for fans of the series and anyone looking for an electrifying adventure in the Infamous universe.
Whether you’re new to inFamous or not, First Light is definitely worth looking into. The only reason you won’t enjoy this is if you didn’t get on with Second Son at all, and although there are some improvements, there’s not enough difference here to convince those who dislike inFamous.
What First Light does is take the best slice of Second Son, repackages it in a new story with some extras, and asks for just over a tenner to take it for a spin.
Infamous: First Light takes an interesting, flawed character and does nothing with her. Even at $15, it’s a vapid, empty, wasted opportunity. At least the combat is still fun, though.
If you're desperate for more inFamous content and can play Second Son with your eyes closed then First Light might be worth your time and money. The story being told, while familiar and unremarkable, is well told and playing around with Fetch's powers can be fun at times. Unfortunately, it's still a downscaled, smaller version of what we all did in the first game.
Moar of InFamous Second Son... just with the "fat" cut out: -and a ALOT MORE ACTION, and intensity!!
You'll love it, if you love Second Son. :P
On sale, for $7 now! lol
Its a dlc that was made a standalone game, I mean its a short game that ties in some plot holes of Second Son aside from that is ok other than its retail price tag.
