Ultimately, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an odd combination between Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Tears of the Kingdom that scratches a very unique itch. It might not be for everyone, but it’s certainly for someone, and it’ll be exciting to see what kind of DLC Capcom have planned for it.
Dragon's Dogma 2 feels like the first proper RPG I've played in years. Its world is captivating, filled with stories both told and waiting to be found. This is a must-play for RPG fans who've grown tired of the hand-holding nature of modern games and just want to get lost somewhere magical and quite frankly, brutal as hell.
Having played the first Dragons Dogma game, I can say that Dragons Dogma 2 is a good sequel.
Firstly in my opinion the hate towards DD2 is totally unacceptable people today like to trash on everything, sometimes for reasons which are not big problems. For example the micro transactions, which are not affecting the game at all, if you don't want them, don't buy them instead of hating the game itself. Something else that got criticized negatively is the story, which in my opinion was good it surely could have been worked on a bit more, but it still is enjoyable. Then it is the combat system which is the best thing in this game, some players didn't like the change from 6 equipped skills being decreased to 4. But they forget that it's a lot easier to change the skills in this game than in its predecessor. Then there are some other things people like to nitpick about, but it isn't honestly even worth mentioning. The only two points I can agree with is that the game has/had performance issues, which was noticeable on pc, on consoles however the game worked perfectly since it's release. The other point is that the mobs and boss monsters have not a big variety which I can agree with, even though I don't have a problem fighting multiple Cyclopes or Ogres, Griffin's... They could have added a bit more monster types, like post the storys end. However it seems like we will have a big number of new monster types, in the first dlc which is right now in progress of making by Itsuno's team. All in all it is one of the best games of this year regardless of the few problems it had. Also we have to acknowledge it's purity which is not being influenced by the woke bacteria especially from USA, since it is a Japanese release. This game is really good would recommend to people that like free exploration and combat decision and also mysterious story. Now about the games story I am not going to spoil or anything about what monsters you face and what characters do, but I am gonna say that I love the medieval kind of art style and story telling, from the world design to the interface design and weapons and armours everything is top. This game is the right step to make Dragons Dogma a bigger franchise in Capcoms catalogue and I hope that Itsuno works on the next installment after all the dlc content. From me Dragon's Dogma gets a 10/10
Hours of fun playing this game. I've enjoyed a lot, upgrading my rogue and finding my best gear. You have freedom to do whatever you want and kill enemies as you prefer
Dragon's Dogma 2 is a must-have game for RPG players who want to experience a real exciting adventure. Capcom has managed to bring us the sequel the series deserves, in all its glory.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is exactly what veterans will be expecting, as double-edged as that may be, but there's simply no other action RPG experience like it.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 features good graphics, an extremely comprehensive character creation system, and highly enjoyable gameplay. Its issues do not diminish the experience, which deserves to be praised.
It walks a tightrope of intrigue that balances quirky systems, fun combat and obscure secrets with frustrating circumstances, weird world-building and curious design choices, and somehow manages to make it across, and if you embrace all it has to offer, you might too.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is outwardly hostile to its audience, embracing everything that made the original such a hassle to enjoy. A game designed with the purpose of wasting a player’s time, which makes Capcom’s “time saver” microtransactions all the more sickening. It’s a glorified xerox that you will adore if you believe Dragon’s Dogma was literally perfect when it released in 2012 and absolutely none of the progress within games development in the past twelve years meant one fucking thing. Indeed, if your idea of a good time is having a terrible time, you’ll love this malignant resurrection of ideas and implementations that should have stayed long dead.
If you played the first one and liked it you will love dragon's dogma 2,it takes everything the first one has and improves it 10 times over. Maybe the story won't be great but I assure you that the gameplay, the setting and the rest are a blast, then all those things said about the shop stuff is just a stupid lie,u can get the items just by playing the game.
Pros:
-Pawn system and many different vocations
-Combat that feels epic at points
-Great sense of adventure and exploration in the first half
Cons:
-Laughable story (never personally saw Disa during my playthrough)
-Game feels like a chore to traverse through once you get to Battahl
-A lot of repetitive encounters
-Lacks replay value after beating it
Game does not hold your hand at all as far as what to do during quests which is a gift and a curse but overall I enjoyed that aspect. This might be the best 7.5/10 game I’ve ever played
I couldn't stand for more than 6 hours and I tried. It looks like an early PS4 game and feels like a PS3 game. I didn't play DD1, but I heard about gameplay feels very similar. C'mon a 2024 game be like a 2011 game is outrageous!
This is the last japanese game that I played (except for a few platform like Mario and JRPGs). They seems to be stopped at 2000's in game development. Such a pity!
