Trouble, while not a huge departure from the Woodpigeon canon, proves Hamilton's songwriting is always growing. Here's hoping his audience will be, too.

This is the work of an artist who, seemingly despite himself, has turned into a major contender. [May 2016, p.93]

The songs are stronger than ever, and the production remains recognisably the work of Hamilton’s hand.

Ultimately, it isn't the lyrics that stand out but Hamilton's deliberate endeavour to craft intricate compositions that hold the attention of the listener. T R O U B L E is worthy of a second listen, and not only to pick up on the subtleties you missed the first time

It's heavy stuff, but it's delivered with the humility of someone who has enough road behind him now that the rear-view mirror is no longer a window into the past, but a seconds-old snapshot of the present.

Musically, TROUBLE grows more assured as it goes on.

When the album quietly disrupts its meditations is when it is at its most effective. Other parts of the album draw you in quietly, but the softness of these songs can lose its effect after a while.
