    Olivia Rodrigo show us her fears, expectations and frustations as a teenager on the lyrics of her debut album, in terms of sonorities, she show us her versatility as a artist, 'SOUR' is pop, but is rock, alternative and folk too, and the mixture of genres does not make the album lose its fluidity and cohesion.

    Olivia Rodrigo debut Album, “SOUR” is a great addition to 2020s music, but in many songs she lacks depth and originality, however, in songs like “favorite crime” and “hope ur ok” Olivia gave us that. The album production is really good in my opinion, but nothing extraordinary. For a debut album it is really surprising.

    From start to finish, this album amazed me. For a debut album to be this good is a big accomplishment. From the rock inspired bangers like brutal and good 4 u to emotional ballads like favorite crime and traitor, Rodrigo blows us away with her strong vocals and even stronger lyrics. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer.

    She slayed me and then revived me. I slept on this album for way too long. I was one of those weirdos who got upset that someone younger than me had millions more in cash than me, so I never really looked into the album. After being emotionally abused by a human, I found SOUR to be the best cope I could ever find.     One of the greatest debuts I've ever seen! She is a star. Her compositions are literally poems to my ears, she really doesn't look like a 17/18 year old girl, she brings melancholy that's sounds incredible, storytelling and extremely good composition. She is very talented for a new artist. She deserves every stream and popularity she gets. Olivia truly speechless

    This album is really great for a debut. The melodies and her voice delivery is incredible and i love how honest she is, you can tell she sings from her heart.     When I heard "drivers license", I was captivated by the harmonies of the bridge; very Melodrama from Lorde. "deja vu" seemed like a Beach Bunny's discard to me, and what about "good 4 u" ... Olivia is the new riot grrrl this decade needs. What I must focus on 100% is the suffering that this girl has suffered during her adolescence. Leaving aside that private life, the influence of her likes is notorious, such as country, Taylor Swift, Paramore, etc., and the best thing is that she credits all that; It isn't easy to see singers doing it because of the great artistic ego that predominates in the industry.

    SOUR is an excellent album for the heartbroken. With detailed lyrics, music that is part pop-balladry and part fuzzy-guitar-rock, and tracklisting that has a seemingly perfect flow. This album is the most impressive debut studio album coming from an 18-year-old, and it's exciting to see where her career could go!

    umm... i do enjoyed this body of work. its teen, its fresh. something about the rock or her attitude that gave this record amazing ( shout out to hope ur ok, that song makes me cry). but in some parts of some songs i kinda miss something, some vocals or u know. but overall thats is a real jam. really like it.

    Muito bom!! Esse álbum mostra tudo oque ela passou no seu antigo relacionamento, suas dores, mágoas e ressentimentos pelo seu ex-namorado. E também se relaciona muito bem com o público alvo dela (adolescente), e esses é um dos motivos que fez o álbum ser um grande sucesso.

The record was pretty short but I will say that I think it was nice having a no skip record versus a 17 song album that you skip half songs.     It is a very good album with good lyrics and fresh sounds. It has many influences from other albums which makes it very special and at the same time as if we had already heard it. I did not like that so many sounds worked, in songs like good for u and deja vu they are very loaded with instruments while the other songs on the album have only guitar and piano in mind.

    I consider this album to be "good". Nothing more and nothing less. Its not trying to be anything its not. The record is very openly emotional and simply, but effectively, written. The only problem this project faces at some points, is being too obvious. There are no big surprises (except brutal, one of the best songs imo). Olivia is a talented artist and she is miles ahead of where her main influences ( Lorde and Taylor Swift ) were when they were her age or when they debuted. Daniel Nigro also proves to me an immaculate and versatile producer who brings Olivia's vision out in the best way possible. The album is an amalgamation of various sounds including punk-rock, pop-rock, indie-pop and ballads. She emphasizes the same theme of heartbreak and sadness in most of the songs but at the same time she does it skillfully and all while exploring various sounds. Most of the songs have a very somber tone and they display raw emotion and teenage distress. Not to mention her impressive vocal ability which she shows off on the more acoustic songs like enough for you and traitor. The only negative thing i could say is she relies too much on the same narrative about this break up and its not really a multi-dimensional break up; she was madly in love, he broke up with her, he moved on very quickly. This is the same narrative in drivers license, traitor, good 4 u, traitor, happier , deja vu and most of the other songs. It could get boring. Luckily, it doesn't because she keeps things very short and sweet. At just 35 minutes, the album is the right length and it does what it needs to do. It shows Olivia has a lot of talent and she is just getting started.… Expand

The album is solely about the breakup between Olivia and her ex and it is all that is talked about, so can be a bit boring at times.     Sour is the perfect example of a good debut album. So emotional and well written, Sour shows all the Songwriting potential that Olivia Has, and it is very positive. I wish her the best in her career

    It’s an excellent album, my favs are deja vu, drivers license, brutal and favorite crime. Obviously I can notice an influence of Taylor S. I really like both

    olivia rodrigo positively surprised me by delivering one of the best debut albums I've ever heard and for sure one of the best albums of 2021. favorite crime, drivers license, good 4 u are great songs. She did a great job of blending a more pop/indie "aesthetic" sound with the pop/rock sound that was very strong a few decades ago, without losing cohesion. The songs works perfectly with one another, even if you can't relate to most of them in spite of a personal lack of experience you just feel things you know? you kinda just wanna be heartbroken to have a full experience with the album.     Imma keep it real, just ignore all of the 7-15 year old girls and Dads who only have daughters that really just need to watch a Tarantino movie that are also reviewing this album. Listen I mean no harm, I'm truly a nice guy, but it wasn't THAT good. But I can't deny there is a lot of good things about this album. This will probably undeservedly (or maybe deservedly, music might suck this year, but we've still got a few months to make it a full house) get nominated for pop album/album of the year at the Grammy's, MTV's, you name it, but I do actually hope Olivia goes on to have a successful career. She is definitely one of the more talented artists out right now and this wipes Taylor's debut album. But for the love of all things holy get over your ex. We don't want you to turn into Adele.     Such a good album. A lot of the songs transported me back to being a kid with a lot of older sounds used. Her vocals are amazing and the lyricism shows that she has a creativity to her artistry.

    Sour, for the most part, is a pop album that dips its toes into the alt-pop and bedroom pop subgenres, specifically spending most of its time in the latter. ... Rodrigo's lo-fi deep cuts that were made in the shadow of "Drivers License" can sound a bit repetitive. Her craft as a songwriter is especially evident on tracks like "Enough For You", "Happier", or "Hope Ur Ok", but the acoustic complexion these songs were going for could have benefitted from a bit more background noise.

    By the end of the album, Rodrigo has established her voice and showed listeners that she's not afraid to be vulnerable. SOUR is a strong debut that vividly illustrates the beautiful chaos of being inside a teenage girl's brain.
