    I am now realizing, with 'Melodrama' coming up, that I haven't properly reviewed 'Pure Heroine'. Now, let me make it crystal clear: Lorde's debut LP is one of my top 3 albums of all time until now, and it's easy to say, very objectively, that it is one of the most well-done records in recent history. Lorde's earth-shattering minimal vocals sway back and forth to beautifully producedI am now realizing, with 'Melodrama' coming up, that I haven't properly reviewed 'Pure Heroine'. Now, let me make it crystal clear: Lorde's debut LP is one of my top 3 albums of all time until now, and it's easy to say, very objectively, that it is one of the most well-done records in recent history. Lorde's earth-shattering minimal vocals sway back and forth to beautifully produced alternative beats and all of that adds up to make a beautifully-crafted solid debut, all coming from an 18 year-old whose lyrics are deeper and more mature than anyone else's. 'I'm little but I'm coming for the crown', Lorde sings on highlight 'Still Sane', and it seems, that crown is already on her head to stay. 10.… Expand

    Esta es la voz adolescente donde da vida a lo que se vive en cada momento de la adolescencia cuando adoleces todo tu entorno y no sientes que encajas y intentas llamar la atención del publico solo para que sepan de de ti. Eso es PURE HEROINE.

    Songs like "Tennis Curt", "Royals", "400 Lux", "Glory and Gore", "The Love Club" and more, are really hard to get them out of the head. I hope something much better in her next work.

    Pure Heroine é um dos melhores álbuns de 2013. Ele é espetacular. Quase todas as músicas desse álbum são perfeitas, só tendo algumas bem "mais ou menos".

    the album starts with another delicious slice of humid, minimalist art pop, entitled Tennis Court. the album only gets better and better, with each new song feeling like a rush of cool air permeating many a teenager's hoodies as they leave their favorite smoke spot. 400 Lux and Buzzcut Season are immediate highlights, showcasing Lorde's talent for translating youth, angst and the zeitgeist into glittering, timeless bangers. one of the most refreshing details about this record is that every single song is as good if not better than the first single. there is so much to love about Lorde, and from here on out, her sharp lyricism and knack for creative melodic direction only gets better. a true pop icon in the making.    … Expand

    This Album by Lorde changed the way we look at modern music. She created a new, creative and unique sound that only a strange girl like herself could pull off. There isn't a single bad song on the album Pure Heroine and is truly addicting to listen to. Ella Yelich O'Cnnor, also known as Lorde, is a genuine artist.

    Lorde states "We live in cities you'll never see on screen / not vert pretty but we sure know how to run things" in the song "Team" With a profusion of wonderful tracks "Royals" and "Team" in particular, this is one of the most essential albums of the 2010s decade. She creates "a different kind of buzz."

    perfect album i love you. I am waiting for l2 "Pure Heroine" by Lorde is just a fantastic album. Every song on this album is very relatable and songs that you can sing-along to, and Lorde's voice is just captivating.

    Very good start for a debut album, back in 2013 i remember hearing Royals in the radio, it was my jam, but then Team and Tennis Court got a place in my heart. It is very catchy and honest, really good

    Fantastic debut for Lorde, I love every song on this album. For someone so young (which is strange for me to say because I'm younger) she has more talent than most other people out there. Her lyrics has deeper subtext, than most other songs and I just can't get it enough of it. A+

    In early 2014, I thought of Pop music for some reason to check for from 2013. Lorde happened to be one of several artist/bands that had a stellar debut. Her pop music when listening to it doesn't come off a catchy, it seems as if the lyrics drive for people to keep singing a verse or a memorable chorus. A song that made me wanna listen to here was "Glory and Gore" because of the showIn early 2014, I thought of Pop music for some reason to check for from 2013. Her pop music when listening to it doesn't come off a catchy, it seems as if the lyrics drive for people to keep singing a verse or a memorable chorus. A song that made me wanna listen to here was "Glory and Gore" because of the show Vikings on A&E. This album has a good sense of being different and by her being 15/16 around the time of making the album you would think she would go the bubblegum pop route of the late 90s. This isn't that and she for sure stands out. Her cadence and how she attacks a record is definitely rap influenced but not a stab to discredit that. For her lyrics matter to her, and for me that also makes this album a listen for people outside the Lorde circle.

    Just WOW. She's so ahead of her time and WOW. She's the best artist of our generation. Joel Little's productions were great, the lyrics were great. Deserved a Grammy Award and deserved to be nominated for Album of the Year.

This album is great for that purpose - helping you put your body to sleep and easing your brain - much like Kings of Leon's WALLS. The effect is really amazing. The vocals are the most consistent thing on this album; Lorde has a great voice. Even if you hate her music, you can't deny that she can sing. The music on this album is mostly good. The weakest songs musically are "Still sane", "White Teeth Teens", "Tennis Court" and "Royals." Every other song has music and production that I personally enjoy. My favorite song on the album is probably "Buzzcut Season." The chorus and overall vibe of that song stuck with me long after I heard it. The lyrics on this album are consistently OK. They are original, but are way too messy to be profound or called great. "Royals" has lyrics that actually say something, but the music is annoying after a few listens. All in all, PH is an original, memorable album with mostly good music and lack-luster lyrics. It sort of works.… Expand

    Each of the songs on this album are pleasant to the ear. Lorde makes an iconic debut and screams that it is a legend of alternative music and not just for placing the single lead of this work in # 1 of multiple charts.

You can hear this sound with Taylor Swift's "Blank Space", even "Style" as well as Tove Lo's "Habits (Stay High)". But the one artist who I believe was truly inspired by this record was Selena Gomez. Her songs "The Heart Wants What It Wants", "Good For You", "Hands to Myself" and "Bad Liar" all seem to strip down its production, even down to its vocal production. And let's not forget newcomers like Banks, Kiiara, Halsey, Alessia Cara, and Troye Sivan to name a few showcase a similar sound, image or themes in their lyrics that seem to use Pure Heroine as a blueprint for their albums.… Expand

The dark pop songs and skilled lyricism create a purely original output that will stand the test of time and act as a precursor of the greatness that is to come.     Absolutely magical. Perfection both lyrically and artistically. Truly the only album that can rival Melodrama to this day for me. This is my favorite album and can listen to it on repeat without getting tired of it. Lorde outdid herself here.

It deserves a higher score by critics and it has stood the test of time considering the impact it had on the wave ofA breakthrough classic.     Excelente album , que despierta muchas emociones , el escuchar tantas experiencias adolescenciales que parecen escritas por una poeta de 60 años con muchos bestseller es magnifico para haber sido escrito todo por una quinceañera , los sonidos encajan perfectamente en un mininalismo perfecto y contundente.     It's so powerful to hear this for the first time, the way she composes and relates with her music is definitely something else. It's ravishing and healing, never boring even when you feel comfortable. I admire Lorde with all my heart and this album just never gets old.

    I love this album so much I may even be too biased to review it. It holds such a nostalgic power over me and a lot of other people. The songs gave themes and messages that defined the decade and I’m not the only one who noticed.

    The production is a perfect blend of alternative, pop, hip hop, with brassy bass and moving chords. Lorded voice fits the lyrics like a glove and moves the    I love this album so much I may even be too biased to review it. It holds such a nostalgic power over me and a lot of other people. The songs gave themes and messages that defined the decade and I’m not the only one who noticed.

    I love love love this album. I actually like it more than Melodrama tbh. I mean don't get me wrong Melodrama is AMAZING. But I just prefer this album over it. I love the sound of this album. It has such a dark and atmospheric feeling to it. My absolute favs are ribs, buzzcut season, team, tennis court, no better and glory and gore. But I love every single track on this album.     A monumental and historic debut from my favorite artist of all time. I am biased as Lorde was my first real venture into music in general. She was the first to teach me that music could be more than the vapid and shallow earworms that the radio was endlessly spewing out. Abstract, unconventional production, thoughtful lyrics, mystery, and the enigma that Lorde presented to the mainstream was something I had never seen before. For that, I owe this album a lot. Looking in retrospect, this album screams teen angst. It is rebellious and displays a lot of attitude and naïve charisma. There are songs that I revisit more often than others, but this is a strong debut and a clear indicator and message of what kind of musician Lorde plans to be.… Expand

    Este es uno de los mejores debut albums en toda la industria, la gente dice que el album es básico y aburrido pero si se dan cuenta ella tenia 12 años cuando empezó en esto y como una niña de abajo de 15 años podría crear tan buen album?? Lorde es increíble

    For a new artist, it is very talented to make such an album. Obviously, critics underestimated the album, and even the picky David Bowie said that she was "the future of music".
