People are throwing the 10's like newspapers, god. This is the best production Em has in a record since MMLP2, no doubt about it. He is quite great technically speaking too. This theme of the album is all about the double entourage. It is about him going back to his roots while keeping with the times. I love the tunes and his bars are next to none.

Honestly the album is not at all that interesting. Though it is better than Revival and Kamikaze no doubt

Mediocre, bad hooks, beats feel similar and it’s like people only like this album cause it’s Eminem not the quality of music, which is poor.

And as an Eminem Stan, Trash music is what I love the most. From the **** hooks, to the trash mixes, I love it, it’s so so so so trash I love it. Don Toliver carried this album with black thought it’s great trash work. Eminem has been going from trash to trashier I love it. I think this is better than Slim Shady LP and Marshall Mathers because of hiw trash this is. Loved it. Expand

Was gonna give this a 5/10 maybe, but the stans spamming this album as a 10/10 leaves me with no choice.

Felt like Eminem was trying to be overly edgy on this album. This does not necessarily make the album bad but gives off a very immature vibe and truly highlights just how stuck he is in the current generation of rap. He simply cannot seem to acclimate to rap nowadays. He just needs to grow up, cut his losses and retire now, like he should’ve ten years ago.

A desperate attempt at reconciling with the new generation but with so much resistance, that it leads to a bloated collection of mediocrity with soms bright spots like Darkness. Album doesn't know what it's going for and like most Eminem albums, has little to no cohesiveness.

Eminem tries very hard here to maintain the edgy appeal he carried ten years back. A majority of this album as a result of this sounds corny and terribly immature. Stupid references to the Manchester attack, a stupid hook that celebrates killing an abusive step-dad, and annoying lyrics that talk about how he's the best in the game. I'm seeing The Telegraph here giving this album a 10 on 10, and I think that is definite example of how long Eminem's status goes to improve his ratings. All of the tracks achieve very little as far as instrumentation or lyricism goes and Darkness was the only exception that genuinely tried to do something. I would give this is a zero, but this was a whole lot better than Kamikaze. I'd give Kamikaze a zero, but that was a lot better than Revival. Expand

Eminem just needs to retire honestly, he’s washed up and boring. Massively overrated and his prime was over a decade ago. Way overrated, Eminem was good in 2002 because he knew pretty much nothing, but now he looks like an old infant, I mean he should just retire and left behind that legacy that he had but he’s just **** up his own image with this kind of albums, I don’t know why he is so attached to his 2000 persona he should let it go by now and just accept who he is right now.

This album is odd. To him complaining about haters, him being political and then him saying "bombs away like I'm outside an Ariana concert". This album could've been better if eminem tried. The man is close to 50 years old trying to fit in with the younger generations, it's not working.
Out of all the songs, I liked one.
Just like almost all the albums that have came out in the 1st

Just like almost all the albums that have came out in the 1st month of 2020, its repetitive as hell. His rapping is getting worse, because hes rich. He doesn't have to worry, and that's what he used to rap about.

    It got a 48/190 from me or a 25%.
(Each song not including intros and interludes are rated out of 10. There could be a max score of 190 because there are 19 songs on the album)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. His worst album on far, and who'd have thought anyone could make an album worse than revival and kamakazi! Eminem acts like he's still 21 starting beef with people and hating the system or whatever, yet he's a middle aged man who's no longer relevant. He should take a leaf out of JAY-Zs book, who has matured as any artist should, and created 4:44, an album 100x better than anything Eminem has made. Though nothing is as bad as his wall punching, monster drinking, 'I tell my mom to F off' fan base, who leave bad reviews on the greatest albums of all time, such as MBDTF because they can't admit Eminem is washed up. The fact on one album he's dissing modern rap and 'mumble' rappers, then works with these new young artists, such as Juice WRLD (R.I.P gone too soon) shows how hell do anything for streams. Expand

Nothing new. Just Eminem rapping fast thinking it’s impressing with corny lyrics and still disses Mgk even tho the beef is over a year old. Also not only is he a hypocrite saying that autotune sucks while having Juice Wrld on here which uses autotune.

He clearly cares about his output, but “Music To Be Murdered By” is, unfortunately, another mixed bag of tricks, propped up by lyrical acrobatics and underwhelming production.

If they look hard enough, any artist could find criticism of their work online. That’s sort of the curse of the Information Age. But not everyone overreacts quite as much as Eminem does. But if his fears grow tiring, his lyrical ability can still give you something to admire, even if the album is somewhat uneven.

It is not, strictly speaking, a good record—Eminem hasn’t made one of those in a decade—but it boasts enough technical command and generates just enough arresting ideas to hold your attention.
