Jul 1, 2013You’ll find no “Iris” gloom here. Ten LPs in, Goo have completely traded black balloons for baby blue sparklers: rocking somewhere in between Boys Like Girls on a soft day (“When The World Breaks Your Heart”), Train at their most radio-friendly (“Slow It Down”) and vibrant, Disney synth-rock (“More Of You”)... Oct 4, 2013What the hell is everyone's beef with "Rebel Beat"? Just because it's overproduced, doesn't make it unbearable to listen to. This album is definitely a flying leap from the rather bland and monotone "Something For The Rest Of Us". "Magnetic" is pretty straight-forward. It's magnetic; it makes me want to listen to it over and over again. The album's main stand-out would have to be "Slow It Down".

Jul 2, 2013I’m going to go ahead and say that I think this may be the Goo Goo Dolls’ most cohesive album yet. There are some new approaches, but overall it still has what we love about this band…a well-produced bunch of songs that happens to have a positive force which keeps drawing you back for repeated listening. Sep 12, 2013More of the same, but that's not a problem if you're a fan of the band. When the World Breaks Your Heart, Come to Me, and Keep the Car Running are the main standouts on a great summer album, from an awesome band!

Mar 24, 2014What is the critic's problem? So its light, so its poppy, SO WHAT!? Some of these songs are quite catchy, even if it isn't the next Dizzy or Boy Named Goo, these guys should have the right to make something a bit less dark than the stuff they've been releasing. Also, I like Rebel Beat. There, I said it.

Apr 25, 2016The very first eight songs are mind blowing and shockingly great, because some of the songs are really catchy and relaxing. Can't wait for their new album, Boxes. Which is coming out on the 6th of May 2016. I hope the next album will be great as this one. So yeah.

Q MagazineJul 26, 2013Magnetic sounds like a TV talent show judge's idea of rock music from a band capable of much better. [Jun 2013, p.98]
-
Kerrang!Jun 26, 2013It'll be too sappy for anyone who likes their rock raw, but if simpler pleasures tickle your pickle, there are few bands in this sphere pulling it off as expertly as the veteran Buffalo trio. [8 Jun 2013, p.54]

Jun 26, 2013From a technical standpoint, the album does little to challenge, provoke or push the envelope. From a thematic standpoint, there's no cerebral or overarching theme, there's no incendiary political or social statements. At its core, it is a safe, sun-kissed collection of 11 utterly harmless light rock songs about the delights of newfound love.
