    If Dave and Phil Alvin want to crank out an album like Lost Time every year until the sun finally sets on them, no one who loves blues and roots music would have any room to complain.

    There’s not a weak track in the dozen making this another candidate for blues release of the year from brothers who almost never got to play another note together. Making up for lost time never sounded so good.

    Whether the brothers suggestively croon about love or chastely celebrate the afterlife, play down and dirty or cleanly pick out the notes, they manage to joyfully make up for the missing years.
