I can't stop listening to this album - it's both hypnotic and dynamic (and newly adding a sub-woofer to my system has added even more to the in-the-room experience, already astonishing on headphones!) As one media reviewer put it, her genius in taking the source material and respectfully making it her own is wonderful - it truly feels like a collaboration of two wonderful artists across time. Incidentally, having come across this album, I went on to explore her back catalogue, where other fabulous work (including other great collaborations) can be found. No wonder so many well-respected creative other artists want to work with her :) Expand

‘Fir Wave’ is a subtle triumph, a record whose innate beauty dissipates to reveal complex aesthetic machinery, while never fully revealing its secrets.

To use an oft-heard cliché, Fir Wave is a life-affirming album – in the broadest possible sense. It celebrates natural phenomena that exist beyond our own life spans, to be present (we hope) long after we have departed.
