Ed Sheeran did an album for the fans, not the critics, and seeing in the point the view of a fan, the album is very successful. Divide will be at the top of the charts in the next 2 years and Ed may change his direction at the next
record, but this one is really good.

This website is a joke. Bunch of Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, etc gay ass fans giving low notes thinking their faves make good music and because hate him, Gaga fans cause they think he shaded her but he didn't.
So they dislike comments which aren't what they wanna hear. SMH!
The truth isn't always what you want btw.

I like all songs in this album. Ed's voice is perfect and lyrics is good too. I understand that someone won't like it. I like all of his albums. Maybe it is generic, but I still like it because these lyrics are about life and that's important for me. He created them with love.

1.Eraser: One of those classic rap ed sheeran songs, a nice refrain, excellent rapping and in this case really cool background guitar music. 9/10
2.Castle on the Hill: This song does remind me of his older ones, it is pretty good, catcy, original but sometimes the lyrics are a step back. 8/10
    3. Dive: Dive is awesome, it is powerfull, direct and the electric guitar in the background is just awesome. 9/10
    4. Shape of You: This is the most catchy song on the whole album, very nice melody, but you don't want to listen to it too often because then it gets slighty irritating. 8/10
    5. Perfect: Perfect is a romance ballad, it's pretty good but the lyrics are sometimes just too much, and it isn't that original. 7/10
    6. Galway Girl: The mix of Irish melody's and rap maybe sounds weird but hell this is a good one. Galway girl is amazing, you really going to like this song. 9/10
    7. Happier: Happier is one of the more emotional/sad song, it builds up pretty good, couplets are well written but sometimes the refrain feels a little bit too similat to Sam Smith. But still a 8/10
    8. New man: You know Ed does those catchy type of melodies like in Don't, Runaway and Touch and Go, he does it again, mixes it up a little and it sounds neat. The lyrics are funny, everything about this song is catchy. But the bridge is something I don't like that much. Doesn't really fit. 8/10
    9. Hearts Don't Break Around Here: A nice slow, romantic song from Ed, reminds you of older underdog songs from him. Pretty good. 8/10
    10. What Do I Know: This song is catchy, and just makes you happy, the lyrics on the other hand are sometimes like in the Refrain: "love and unstanding positivity" are a little annoying but after a while you don't mind it anymore. 9/10
    11. How would you feel: Very original guitar/piano work, pretty good, nice "John Mayer-ish" solo. The lyrics are sometimes a little annoying. 8/10
    12. Supermarket Flowers: This song is about his Grandma who passed away, it's very emotional, sad. I don't really have a complain about this song I just think it's great.
Thanks Ed for this album, and thanks to everybody reading this!

If anyone is turned off because of Shape of You, rest assured, that is only one song, and it doesn't sound like it. Having said that, I do like that song, in part because it represents Sheeran’s continued expansion of his sound. He continues some hip-hop, as well as experimenting with U2-esque anthem rock, acoustic and piano ballads, tropical house pop, and Irish folk (if you get the deluxe version, it includes even more sounds). His voice continues to be a huge selling point, none more evident than on songs like Dive and Castle on the Hill. Arguably his best love ballad (Sheeran’s bread and butter) is Perfect, which is one of the highlights of this album. The others are Castle on the Hill, Supermarket Flowers, and my personal favorite song of all time, Galway Girl. Expand

Everyone should LOVE this album, since it is Ed Sheeran’s best work. I’m still blown away by it. Sheeran retained his lyrical creativity, as can be seen in more tracks than not, while still coming out with an evolved style of music. Divide is a little more poppy, and that part of it is fun. That being said, ÷ isn’t all pop. He continues his rappy style with Eraser and Galway Girl, and I’m not even sure how to classify Supermarket Flowers, besides that it nearly brought tears to my eyes, it was so beautiful. If you’re reading this review, you are probably thinking of something that I’m overlooking. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about it: Shape of You. Absolutely awful. This song lowered ÷'s score enough so that it didn’t get a Perfect (haha) score. It’s a fun poppy song on the surface, but once you reach the chorus it becomes repetitive, annoying, and kind of a nasty song. Where was Sheeran’s creativity when writing this? I hope he doesn’t become primarily known for this song, especially when 94% of this album is fantastic. Sheeran’s album score keeps improving with each one he releases, so I’m really excited for Subtract when it comes out. Highlights: Eraser, Castle on the Hill, Dive, Perfect, Galway Girl, Happier, Hearts Don’t Break Around Here, What Do I Know, Supermarket Flowers, Barcelona, Bibia Be Ye Ye, Nancy Mulligan, and Save Myself.

You can tell that this album is very cultured due to the production of songs on this album like 'Galway Girl' and 'Nancy Mulligan' which is very Irish since he collaborated with Irish trad/folk group, Beoga and 'Barcelona' a very uptempo track about the city itself and being free in it.

Judging by some songs on the album it is clear that this is quite an emotional album with songs like 'Dive' and 'Save Myself' translating Sheeran's raw emotion to not be led on by someone in 'Dive' and not being taken for granted by other people and look after yourself.

They’re are also many different genres of songs, so it’s the kind of album you can listen to all the way through and not get bored of. One of my favorites to this day Expand

I really don't understand the hate for this album. IMO, this is much better than what most artists are putting out (Starboy...blech). While still the same of Ed Sheeran, Divide is packed with pop gems like "Shape of You" and "Galway Girl" and is likely to boost Sheeran even farther into mainstream superiority.

It seems Adele and The Weeknd have influenced Sheeran by keeping their latest releases the same style.

Rated it 7 out of 10. It has some of the best songs Ed has made on his whole career at the moment and his diversity is shown here. He entered the Irish influence in the mainstream industry and exposed it. Took some risks and it did surprisingly well. The album is great but x still stands out.

Loving it though! :) Hear it now!

There were a lot of standout songs on Divide (New Man, Shape of You, Castle on the Hill, Galway Girl) however there were quite a few dull ones too, and it seemed like there were more of the dull tracks on the record than there actually was. In my opinion, because the instrumentals to them were a bit samey, the bad parts all blended in with each other. Putting that aside, Sheeran is at his absolute best in terms of lyrical content - not many people come close at the moment.

I would have liked Divide to have had more tracks like the album opener, Eraser - fast paced, rap-like vocals, and a simple instrumental - included, as for me this is what Ed is best at. It's one of the reasons I liked Plus so much. And it would definitely have made the record a lot more varied. In conclusion then? A well written and produced album that is strongest in it's vocals and lyrics, but falls a tiny bit where variation and instrumentals are concerned. But I liked it, as I'm sure the vast majority of his fans do too.

    Overall - 3.5/5

Tilly - Oh Sheeran, you frustrate me. Such a talented songwriter but with no creativity. The songwriting on Divide is for the most part very strong, but with the exception of three or four songs, they all blend into each other. The Irish influences on Galway Girl and Nancy Mulligan were a nice touch, Castle On The Hill feels a bit like a Deaf Havana rip off, but a good one and Shape Of You and New Man provide a much needed catchy pop tune. How Would You Feel (Paean) sounds like Someone Like You by Dina Carroll and Michael Buble's Home had a lovechild, which could have been a good thing but ultimately feels like a stolen song. He has so much potential, especially with his ever growing fan base, but this album felt bland. Not that it matters, and not that he cares with the amount of money he's probably made, but I for one look forward to hearing something different from him next time. Good album. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Overall - 3/5

He, at first to me, seemed like another guy with a guitar from the UK just trying to make it into the business and become this next egotistical **** The song ‘A Team,’ used to drive me up the wall, and I remember for my brothers birthday I bought him the album for his birthday, and I felt disgusted buying it.
Fast forward a few years and then Ed releases his second album and the songs ‘Sing,’ and ‘Thinking Out Loud,’ I surprised myself by actually finding that I liked them. I listened to a few songs on the album and decided that Ed had a few OK songs on there, but wasn’t going to be a lover of his music anytime soon, and that was that. Fast forward a few years later from that, and then he releases ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill,’ and it just appealed to me that he was trying to release music purposely just for the record sales and not necessarily for the music and it infuriates me when someone has a record deal and doesn’t take artistry that well, so I went back to thinking he was that egotistical ****.

I would just like to apologise and probably admit that I was wrong. This is the first album of Ed’s that I have listened to the whole way through, and I’ve been putting it off for days knowing that I guess I had to do it, but didn’t quite want to giving what I was currently thinking of him at the time. This album is incredible. It has a few minor bumps along the way, but thinking about the whole thing as an entire piece, it really is fantastic.

There were songs on there that made me smile, there songs that had me crying, there were songs on there that made me think about certain experiences in my own personal life, whether good or bad. It was just a journey in itself.

I love how Ed has not only shared some personal things within his music through lyrics, but also the sounds too. As people will know, Ed took time out to travel the world for a little bit, and he has obviously brought that to the music, and it pays off. Not only that, but he has shared with the world more about his family, and his roots, as you will notice if you listen to the album that there a few songs that have Irish influences. Another thing that I love about this album is how raw and honest the lyrics are. There are no cliché lyrics within this album whatsoever, and you can really relate to a lot of things this albums messages tell.

It seemed at first that this album was just going to be an album full of songs that were radio friendly crap that you hear all the time, but actually it’s not. Ed has cleverly deciphered the things people want to hear, and the things that people relate to in their day to day lives, and life messages that everyone will go through and has put the two together to make people listen and really relate to this stuff and enjoy it, and honestly, I am one of those people.

This is undoubtedly the best Ed Sheeran album, and undoubtedly one of the best albums released so far this decade, possibly millennium.

Middling with a few great exceptions, Ed Sheeran's downbeat 'Divide' is a collection of generic ballads with each song having one nuance to stand out. The best songs are when he experiments with different genres, or delves deep into the lyrics. Unfortunately, most of his songs are simply bland love songs.

Some great songs on here, but the more I listen to it the more I realise that it was just a quick money ploy. The great songs triumph and the bad ones fall in comparison. I was hoping he'd incorporate more of the influences of the countries he traveled to on his year off here, and he did that more so with the songs from the deluxe edition. Barcelona I could do without, but Bibia Be Ye Ye and Nancy Mulligan are honest, upbeat songs that would have lent themselves to a standard album that followed the aforementioned concept of focusing on his travels and reconnecting with himself. Save Myself is compelling as well since, for once, he takes a hard look at himself and knows he has to fix his own flaws before entering into a relationship with someone. Everything else here is either "poor me, this girl left me and her life is better and mine is still **** or "I've found someone new and my life is glorious now!" Ed should have picked a lane and stuck with it, and written better lyrics for the "someone new" songs. How Would You Feel is the only quality ballad here, all the others just sound the same. Ed can do better and has done better, and I'm hoping he'll do better again on his fourth album. You might hear glimpses of genius (in Eraser or Bibia Be Ye Ye or Barcelona for instance) but that feeling is drowned by the realisation that the song doesn't fit or that it's potential was not fully explored.
