I've enjoyed Ndegeocello's last few albums, but this latest release sounds like prog-rock Stevie Wonder. There's a sameness to the beats, the lyrics are somewhat shallow odes to "forgiveness" and "love," and Ndegeocello's voice stays at the same tone through pretty much the entire album. Maybe something to listen to in the background, but I didn't find this record I've enjoyed Ndegeocello's last few albums, but this latest release sounds like prog-rock Stevie Wonder. A beautiful album. I can listen to it every day. Sonic love. I wish more people appreciated her artistic talent.

Her music is smooth and mellow. Perfect love music, as well as everyday music. I will definitely be looking for a next album

She's made her Marvin Gaye album, a sweet collection of dreamy, reggae-kissed gems. [Dec 2003, p.86]

Though Comfort Woman does not match the rebellion of past efforts, its overall joy is infectious. [Dec 2003, p.214]

It's all wonderfully sensual, only there's no passion or intensity. [Feb 2004, p.105]
