    Like just about most of their catalogue it’s refreshingly original, incorporating sax, accordion and organ into what would, on its own, still be a great collection of country and rock numbers.

    Malo’s strong vocals and the ringing instrumentation suggest the material would work better live, but the well-crafted studio production makes Brand New Day a welcome addition to the Mavericks’ catalog.
