    This album is amazing. As a hard core fan I had been anticipating this album and it did not disappoint. The production is fantastic and I love the 80's synths he experiments with. There are so many great songs I can't pick my favourite but being a big fan of his mixtapes I can really appreciate some of the darker songs.

    After Hours is his most consistent album to date. The album has many moments without ever sounding dull. The lyrics have improved massively. The production is spot on. This album is a ride back to the 80s and it does so in style.

    This is an amazing album by The Weeknd!! Definitely one of my favs by him. There is only one skip on this album and it was ‘Snowchild’ that song was very underwhelming and it just didn’t fit the sound of the rest of the album in my opinion. But every other song was amazing!! It kept me on my toes the whole time, with all the different sounds and the versatility. It reflects 80s synth-popThis is an amazing album by The Weeknd!! And the track that follows, has the same muffled vocalizations. i can't really get intimate with any of them even though the instrumentation sounds compelling enough, especially on the second. Toda essa produção trás um contraste forte para o universo perturbador e psicodélico de suas letras melancolias que retratam uma fase dolorida na vida do The Weeknd, qual grita em suas confissões. Mesmo obtendo músicas com batidas mais dançantes. Ainda assim, por mais que eu esperava algo diferente e um pouco mais, o álbum trás uma narração sombria que vale a pena dar atenção, mesmo que a identidade sonora que o msm trás, não tenha me impressionado e agradado tanto.

I am glad hes finding a balance, and not allowing himself to be put in a box. From start to finish, no skips.     I didn't like this album. I mean, I didn't mind, but I only liked three or four songs. I feel like the lyrics lack something. Most of the tracks sounded too much similar for me. I would've liked it much more if at least a few of the tracks were more experimental. He needs to get out of his comfort zone because all of his songs are the same, and it isn't going to work forever. 6/10

    Brilliant Album, Vocally improved, Sonically perfect, production levels have gone up substantially. The album is Cohesive and nothing feels out of place.

My favorite tracks were "Blinding Lights," "In Your Eyes," and "Hardest To Love." The other tracks sound pretty similar and generic to me. I appreciate the innovation in those select songs, I justI was really looking forward to this album because I was expecting a throwback 1980s style throughout.     Every song was connected in one way or another . The more you listen to this album the better it gets. This was definitely the best I've ever heard from Abel. It had me going going back and listening to songs to find stuff I missed before. This is Gold.

    The production, the melody, the beats are so flawless and incredible, which is why I give this album an 8. Abel did a good job making this album. But I never fully understand the message behind this album, or the lyrics, the contents... I guess that it talks about his sadness, loneliness and his depression from love ?

With an album more narrative driven and even more desolation than My Dear Melancholy, the lyrics and production was not change from the typical lyrics he has written before. The difference between this and the other studio albums is the beautiful lyrics of despair and sadness as well as the production.     Great album that tells a story, production is 10/10. Abel delivers an album with no skips. It’s already went platinum with 0 features. Top songs are Escape From LA, Too Late, and Blinding Lights. There aren’t any bad songs.

    Creio que o álbum foi um pouco superestimado ou talvez toda a aclamação me fez criar muitas expectativas. A medida que você vai reouvindo, a obra soa melhor e torna-se uma nova descoberta. O álbum tem seus pontos altos, porém com tanta coisa boa, quando algo parece menor ou repetitivo, destaca mais ainda seus pontos baixos.

    Now, I can't wait for whatever comes next. The instrumentals sound heavenly and atmospheric at times but they're grounded when necessary too, and paired with Abel's smooth voice, this album becomes his best sounding one yet.

    Furthermore, not only did The Weeknd perfect his sound, he exceeded all of my expectations for lyrical quality and then some. From the opening of "Alone Again" to the close of "Until I Bleed Out," these songs tell a story of recovery and healing, whether it be from lost love or drug addiction. Some songs are better than others, for sure, but more than anything each one feels like a chapter in something greater. After Hours is one of the most powerful stories ever told through music, and without a doubt, one of the greatest albums of the new century.    … Expand

Nonetheless, I was impressed by everything else and will definitely keep on singing the chorus of "Blinding Lights" whenever I see lights in the dark throughout the rest of the year. 8 out of 10!

    EDIT: I have decided after 1 & 1/2 weeks to update this review and bump up this album to a 9 out of 10. 2 of the 3 things I stated in that last paragraph did not last for long. I truly am super impressed with what The Weeknd has done with this unique LP. The alter ego still is a bit unsettling, but it really mixes deliciously (sorry lol) with the sound of each track. The music videos are also pretty great too.

    You don't exactly see every artist expressing their true feelings in every piece of work nor giving it their all. And Abel Tesfaye does exactly that with "After Hours". One of the best albums of the year. Incredibly well done. (be aware, i might even bump this up to a 10!)    … Expand

    The singles are very well picked but the rest of the album has a lot of skips the old weekend was way better

    One of the best albums of 2020. Some great songs, my favorite is faith. My only complaint is that after 4-5 listens all the songs start to blend together and sound the same, but it makes great background music.

The synth heavy pop hits and the Metro Boomin produced trap bangers make up the body of the album. The production is flawless and so is his vocal delivery.     A cinematic experience which shows The Weeknd's creativity and imagination. Every song flows into another and keeps the same hedonistic theme we adore all throughout, hints of Trilogy and Kiss Land here and there which excites older fans. Definitely recommend a listen, not one song is a miss.

    I was a huge fan of the Starboy album and Beauty Behind the Madness. However, After Hours just felt like a mix of the two with repetitive lyrics, themes, and sounds. Blinding Lights in particular felt way too generic to be the lead single. Abel's vocals are unique and emotive as usual, but the composition and production of the tracks left a lot to be desired.     The Weeknd is renewed in the genre and takes us to pure nostalgia. Yours dramatic lyrics in the company of the 80's sound make the scene perfect for listening to the album.

    It´s a shame that these album doesn´t show more cohesion, because it has some major R&B bops, that are going to be stuck on our minds for a very long time.

    One of the best album released this year. Though i did not like it as much as starboy but blinding lights has my heart. His voice is really good and soothing in the album and you can hear his emotions really clearly.

    Best album of 2020! A well done story from the first song to the last. The Weeknd created a new character with inspiration from different movies and is very fascinating. The album musically is amazing which amazing songs like blinding light, in your eyes, save your tears and heartless just to mention a little.

    Is your best album in terms of production, but some songs like "In your eyes" and "Hardest to love" is very simple for an artist like The Weeknd. He have a lot of potential to make incredible songs and not weak songs like I already mentioned. But overall is a great album.

    Just two good songs. Not the best album but not the worst either. Can´t wait to hear him singing reaggueton.
