Its control, ambient life, longevity, and evolving gameplay will captivate you, no matter how obscure you find the core subject matter to be. [Mar 2003, p.82]
The game is ultimately too stripped-down and simplistic to warrant a higher score; a more engaging surface world, compelling storyline and ambitious gameplay would have driven the final tally up considerably.
I literally fell asleep 15 minutes into my first "exciting" mission of taking pictures of fish, so that should tell you something. But stick with it, and you may find yourself inexplicably drawn in. [Mar 2003, p.116]
It fails to create a captivating story, anything more than moderately interesting characters, and the game interface on land is just silly.
The sum of its parts are overshadowed by low production values, shallow story, lacking gameplay structure, and poor character development.
A valiant attempt at creating a serene and relaxed scavenger hunt.
The storyline features such ridiculous contrivances as diving to find the ingredients to make aspirin for someone's grandmother, who has back pain. Ugh.
